I have worked at 4 different pet stores with petco being one of them. Terrible company! I’ll never shop there again after working for that company and seeing their true priorities which is profit before animals and people. Petsmart is a much better company. Petsmart genuinely cares for animals and their employees and I believe they are more successful as a company because of that.
I prefer shopping at PetSmart rather than Petco for those exact reasons.
I am very sorry for your experiences. I would like to say that that while the corporate model for any mass retail chain is to generate a profit, the Petco in my city has friendly staff, for which I personally know several of the ladies that work there by name, they are all pet owners (some brings their pets in with them to work), the store hosts monthly adoption days for the East Mississippi Animal Rescue, and the ladies at the grooming salon go out of their way to give the best service possible. Though I have not worked at a Petco myself, its not fair to state that any store is terrible. The ladies at my store always treat my pets wonderfully, which means the world to me, and for that reason I will be purchasing calendars this year! Thanks, Collin!
I think veteranarians are the worlds worst when it comes to putting profit before the well being of our pets. It is really hard to find 1 that puts the animals 1st, but if and when u r lucky enough to find 1, youll know it & never go anywhere else (& dread the day they retire!)
I’m sure that some stores are better than others and I know some good people who work for the company but the company itself is what I have a problem with. Policies and procedures compared to petsmart are poor. The district manager in my area is corrupt.
We personally only shop at Petsmart. Our local store honestly just feels “cleaner” than Petco. That said, I think BOTH Petsmart and Petco need to be commended for deciding to pull ALL dog and cat treats manufactured in China!!!!! I think this is an AMAZING stand and am thrilled. (Personally I’m still floored Costco continues to sell pet treats manufactured in China? … And to think they want to ship our human consumption chicken to be “processed” in China. Awful! *rant over*)
What exactly have they done behind the scene for you to feel this way?
I shop at both, but the petco location by my house has a limited selection of dog clothes/costumes (which i use to take photos of my dogs), & VERY limited selection in the size XXL my dogs require. I’m so sick of seeing racks and racks of Star Trek dog outfits at petco… Seems like nobody ever buys them but they keep bringing more and more. However there are other locations in Houston that have a better selection, so overall I shop at both stores, & prefer whichever one has the most items on clearance because that’s usually the only way I’ll buy them hi I didn’t order
I haven’t been to petco in years but I’m headed there this,weekend now that I know they have star trek clothes!

In my area, each year at the end of January these calendars are marked down for $1.00.
Can you use more than one calendar’s coupons since some of them make you use your petco card?
