They will. I called Wed. Cancelled and they renewed at the $72 rate. Plus, they screwed up and charged me twice by mistake. They fixed it plus gave me a 35$ credit for the issue.
Yeah, but how many days did you have on your original membership? If it was almost over it is worth it, but if you have half a year it is not (unless somehow they gave you prorated money back, which isn’t their policy based on what I have read).
You were lucky. I just had a chat and they say it’s only for new members. They said I am not qualified for the $72 promotion. I had Amazon mom for 2 years in couple hrs ago and had the 30 days free trial last yr.
Mine renewed two days ago on the 22nd :(. So did they cancel yours over the phone or you cancelled before you called? What # did you call?
Luckily I didn’t renew it about 10 days ago so I was able to join at the $72 rate!!! Yay!!!
Did they raise the fee? Did it used to be $40?
The fees are now $100/year they raised is about 2 years ago I believe.

So I haven’t been a member since Nov 2014 and I was still able to snag this deal. It says it will renew at $99 after the first year. So I bought another Prime Membership at $72 for a “gift” to myself to be sent to me a year later. I will cancel the current Prime subscription a few days before it renews at $99 and then activate the “gift” Prime membership!

It will work if you gift it yourself. Pick a day or two before you membership ends to receive it then cancel current membership and turn off auto renew then add in your gift of prime and all set
I’m nervous about that, do you think it will allow us to add it as a gift even if we are already members, or do you think it won’t work because of the conditions (just as it doesn’t work if you try to buy it now)?
Also, did you use the same email? I think it would be a hassle to have to update all the electronics I have with my current email/pw to a new email/pw…
Worked for me before they raised the price this last year. Gifted it at the lower priced and scheduled arrival day just beforehand.

I just set my prime to end and not renew (2 days after this deal ends) and purchased a gift membership to be emailed to me on the day my original plan expires. Will then activate the cheaper plan. I love Prime!
I just gift it to myself and to be safe, I scheduled it after my membership ends. I can even use my points and gc balance to pay 1/2 of it. Renewal don’t do that even I have enough gc balance. Worse case scenarios, I ask for refund and get Amazon credit. Thanks for the tips!

Quick question. I got the student discount and it expires in march…I actually graduated dec 23..will I have to get a new one at 99(79)$.. How does this work?anyone know?
March will have a special if $79. The customer service lady told me to renew in March always bc of the sale.

I just bought it as a “gift” for myself. My current prime runs out on February 28. When you click “give as a gift”, you will be prompted to add a date when you want the gift delivered to the recipient. I chose March 1st so I can immediately activate the day after my current subscription runs out. Saved $27 by doing this.

I just gifted it to myself but I haven’t gotten an email that says it’s been gifted. It shows up under my order history but I would think they would send an email saying, “hey, someone gave you this gift.” Anyone that gifted to themselves get an email confirmation?
Please can someone help me? I have a 30 day trial and it is over January 27th. I went and cancelled the trial and put the new one in for cheaper price and it said remove from your cart you are a prime member. What do I do please and thank you.

Starting in feb amazon will now start charging sales tax in illinois and two other states.
They already charge in a bunch, I am sure in a matter of time it will be all 50.
if you buy from a third party seller it is usually tax free.
Amazon charges taxes in states where they have warehouses.

Yes. Mine does t expire till June 30,2015. I purchased the gift of prime for myself, turned off auto renew, and set my gift day for June 30th. Worked like a charm.
How do you turn off auto renew? I went to manage my prime and the options are end membership, remind me later, or continue. My current expires 2/23. If I click end membership, will it end it today or 2/23?!
If you click ‘end membership’ you will be taken to another screen where you can choose to end immediately or end of membership period. Kind of sneaky of amazon to make it look lIke you are actually canceling your membership all together by clicking that end membership button…

I gifted myself last year when they had a deal. I turned off auto renew and seamy activation for the date it expired. It worked. Will do the same with this deal.

How do u turn off auto renew?
Sneaky, sneaky Amazon… no clear way to do this. I had to Google for the answer. Click the “end membership” link. This will not immediately end your membership – it will take 2 more steps. First option is to either ‘continue’ or ‘set reminder’ or ‘cancel’. Choose to cancel and the next screen will give 2 options, ‘now’ or ‘end of membership period’. Choose end of membership period and it will not auto renew.

I not sure how the streaming works…if I buy that fire stick amazon advertises commercials for and I have prime, can I watch all the movies on my tv for free?
Do you have a smart tv, video game system (we play prime on wii u and ps4, there are others that have it), a tablet, roku or computer? You can stream prime on them with no other device. Otherwise, yes! The stick will allow you to stream it on your tv.
What about if you don’t have wifi can you stream through the stick and a cell phone?

I don’t currently have printer but my hubby has a student membership that expires in may. Can I gift myself this membership and begin it in may even though I’ll be a new member? I really want the free shipping, but hubby can’t share that on a student membership.

I got the $72 offer and I had gift cards on my account so I only paid $65 for mine. Which amazed me because on the normal priced prime you can’t use gift cards.
I’m a little nervous to try this, even though Hipster Lorraine commented above^ that it would work … I’d like to purchase this deal for myself and then also gift it to “me.” ;] That way I could activate the subscription I buy now and then set it to not renew … Then actually end the membership 2 days before (1.22.16) and activate the “me” gift on 1.23.16, so I would receive another year at this awesome price. Can anyone tell me if prime is worth it for the kindle books? Can you get as many books as you want?
No, not exactly. With Prime you get 1 “free” kindle book per month and only from their selection of prime books. However there are a lot of books that qualify and I get one on the first of every month. Just remember to return it when you’re done so you can get another the next month.
