  2. Ashley C

What in the world is a sofrita? Lol

    • Heather C

Wondering the same thing…. I read “tofu” & thought it sounded healthy 😉

    • Nik

      Tofu

    • irene

I believe it’s a Puerto Rican mix of garlic, onion, peppers and spices. Tofu is just what they use it on. It’s pretty bland on its own.

I tried a sofritas burrito for free via a text message offer they sent me…it is NOT good. And the texture is awful…I will pass
Thanks for all u do though Collin

    • Kimberly

Maybe it is just how they made it. I HATE tofu hate Moe’s Southwestern Grills tofu. But my family and I don’t eat meat that is not organic, leaves some pretty boring veg fast food options and usually have to pack a lunch. I had to try this as an option for when we are out. It is AH-mazing a tad spicy but it tasted like a ground turkey to me. Perfectly seasoned and cooked better than any tofu my 5 and 2 year olds love it too and they are kinda picky. I would ask for a sample before buying if your hesitant but I have been to at least 10 different locations and loved them all.

  8. Angi

It’s tofu. Ive never had tofu and this isn’t too bad. If you’re not a fan you could always ask for easy on the tofu and extra salsa! Just to get your free one next time!!

    • Shel

      Thanks! That’s a great idea 🙂

  9. KathieS

I tried the sofritos burrito for free through a text too, and loved it! Wasn’t expecting to, maybe that’s the difference lol!

  10. luckyyear2011

The sofritas are amazing! Love the flavor and texture… and it has a bit of a spicy kick. Thanks for the heads up!

  11. Jill

    LOVE Sofritas!!

  12. Tina H.

I had a free coupon for one not too long ago and I wasn’t sure how I’d like it. I asked for the sofritas on the side and they put it in a small cup. It wasn’t bad, but I prefer their chicken.

  13. Katie

Yummy! They are really good and healthy. I’ve had sofritas maybe three times?

  14. Jill

The wording is a little confusing. If you buy 2 Sofritas on one reciept do you get 2 free items next time or just 1?

    • nicolegammeter

      Hi Jill!

Their terms state: Limit one free regular-priced menu item per Sofritas entrée listed on receipt; free items must be redeemed simultaneously in a single visit and are subject to availability.

      • Jill

        OK, thanks, Collin!

  15. Jenny

Bathrooms will be exploding on Monday! LOL

  16. Elizabeth

Thanks! My 6 year old daughter LOVES the sofritas burrito, she asks for it every time we go. My brother says it reminds him of chili 😀

    • nicolegammeter

      😀

If you are a vegetarian, those are great! If you are a carnivore – who knows. I like them a lot.

    As an FYI:

Sofrito (Spanish pronunciation: [soˈfɾito]) or refogado (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʁɨfuˈɣaðu], [ʁefuˈgadu]) is a sauce used as a base in Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American cooking. Preparations may vary, but it typically consists of aromatic ingredients cut into small pieces and sauteed or braised in cooking oil.

In Spanish cuisine, sofrito consists of garlic, onion, paprika, peppers, and tomatoes cooked in olive oil. This is known as refogado or sometimes as estrugido in Portuguese-speaking nations, where only onions and olive oil are often essential, garlic and bay laurel leaves being the other most common ingredients.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, the American restaurant chain, has ‘Sofritas’ as one of its vegetarian options; with braised tofu being the main ingredient.

  19. Jacki

    I think they are delicious!

  20. Kitty

These are so good! I’m a vegetarian but I think it’s tastes kind of like their chicken. Definitely worth trying in my opinion

    • Carolin

Thank You Kitty! I’m a vegan and was a little hesitant about trying it. Looks like I know where I will be going for lunch.

  21. Andrea

I love the Sofritas – but I get the hard shell tacos, not the burritos. Amazingly delicious! I’m not a vegetarian but I always order the sofritas – I like it that much!

  22. Jade

I tried a spoonful as I was waiting in line to order my food. It was definitely Mexican-spiced tofu & not something I’d ever order since I’m there for the Carnitas. I’m going to call & find out if I could just order one small taco in order to get the free future burrito deal.

    • Jade

I just called Chipotle & they said whether you order a burrito, burrito bowl, salad or 3- taco order, it would cost $7.04 w/o guacamole which is an extra $1.95. Their base price for the Sofrito filling is $6.50. The gal said you have to order 3 tacos, not a single taco w/c is $2.40.

My son and I love the spicy sofritas! They are amazing. If you aren’t sure about it (it is a new item they are promoting), ask for a small sample before you order. They are happy for you to try a new product. Not too long ago a friend (read: very picky eater) and I visited a Chipotle. She was clearly unnerved by the process and unfamiliar choices (and the place was slammed). When we got to the register, she mentioned she had never been to Chipotle. The manager comped her entire meal, (even though nothing was wrong at all) just to make her visit happy. My friend (a mother of 5) was thrilled, loved her food, and is now a Chipotle regular.

  24. jessica

I LOVE the sofritas! I will most likely never order meat again. This just tastes better! And it’s healthier! 🙂

  25. Josie

In my California city, the sofritas have been on the menu for over a year. Several months ago, I asked one of the employees if it was a popular choice and she said it wasn’t. If corporate is doing this promo they are trying to push it because it may not be popular in many areas. If it’s only 50 cents less than a meat filling option, that really could be lowered because tofu is much cheaper than meat. I like tofu, so I am probably going to try this, but I think that the price could be lowered to reflect the cheaper tofu price in order to make it more popular.
