Is honeywell a good brand? any thoughts?
This is just an FYI, I don’t claim to know ANYTHING about this sort of stuff. I have my HVAC system serviced every six months by a VERY HONEST COMPANY. So honest, not only do I now trust my technician with my house key, but I leave him a tip right on the table. He also tells me ways to save money by buying and replacing my own humidifier filter instead of having him do it.
Anyway, he told me to buy the cheap air filters you can buy in a large pack at WalMart or at the local Warehouse store and change it every month. He says it is much more effective than the more expensive ones you have to change every month.
Just my 2 cents; do with it what you will.
We were told the same!
wow great tips! Thank you so much Janessa!
Thanks! 🙂
My HVAC guy told us the same thing @ Janessa A.
My husband works at an HVAC wholesaler, and for those who are wanting to save and have Locke Supply stores near you it’s much cheaper then even Wal-Mart. Pleated filters usually run between $3-$8 depending on size and the regular fiberglass filters generally run between $1-$3.
Fiberglass filters are better for your system in terms of longevity. They are less restrictive and provide better airflow. They’re cheap enough to be changed out more often without hurting the pocketbook so much. Pleated filters are more restrictive and a bit more expensive, however, they catch more contaminants in the air.
Thanks! 🙂
