I find it ironic that these products advertise as flushable wipes. Every plumber I know says not to flush them and the only thing you should flush in the toilet is toilet paper.

My husband works in the field and says the same thing 🙁 ..but I guess if your hooked up to sewer and don’t have a septic tank they are safe.

It’s not so much that they are safe, as much as they just end up being someone else’s problem. Look up fatbergs in London and all the grease/fats that build up in a sewer line, and it gets worse quicker now because of these wipes which don’t break down and give the fats something to cling to.

even if the product says flushable, I wouldn’t take a chance 😉

These are $1 at Kroger this week

I saw the special report on Dr. Oz where they show these wipes stuck in the water treatment plant. Bottom line, they are flushable, but they don’t tear down like toilet paper because they are too thick. Not good for sewer systems or your house plumbing.

When these first came out, I thought they were too thick to flush, so I always put them in the trash. If it was a poopy wipe, I would stick it inside one of those thin produce baggies so I wasn’t stinking up the place. My mom uses those Cottonelle wipes and her toilet was taking a long time flush the bowl. A plumber came and he did a video analysis, and there were wipes that had gotten stuck at some point in the plumbing. So he was able to push them through. He said these things eventually get caught up in the city lines and just aren’t good for the sewer system as they don’t degrate.

If it’s so bad I wonder why not banned by now?

We use wipes. Not these, but have never had a problem.

My husband used to only use these and no tp. For probably a year or two everything was ok then the toilets started flushing really strange with hesistatiom so made him stop and after a few days haven’t had the issue since. Not sure exactly what was going on but I imagine it would have been a major problem had he continued to use them

Any Kroger/ smiths store these are 10 for 10 right now so $1 each.
