I wasn’t aware Disney was making a “real” Cinderella movie. Yikes is all I can say from those pictures. Why can’t they make Cinderella modest???

    • paula

LOL. I was thinking the same! Looks more like a adult movie to me.

      • Lolita

        Haha, same here!

      • Lolita

When I was scrolling through this site and saw this at first I thought it was one of those cheap romance novels on Amazon or something. lol

    • Beth

It was actually very common in those days for women to let it all hang out like that lol! But if she were to show her ankle/leg or a man was caught looking at her ankle/leg that was a big deal! It’s amazing how much the culture has changed over the years.

    • Barb

I was just about to post this same thing. She makes a beautiful Cindarella, and her dress is gorgeous – but why does her dress have to show so much cleavage? Really, what message does this send our daughters? So sad how society is declining, wish WD had some morals.

    • Missy

OMG I came here to post the same thing…look at her waist..thats just terrible photoshopping.

    • Julianne

      **EYEROLL** It’s PG.

      • meg

        Exactly

  2. Lolita

BTW, are those two from Downton Abbey? They both look like characters from Downton…

    • Juliana

i know she is for sure. her character is Rose on Downton 🙂

    • Wren

      I thought that was Rose!

      • Lolita

Ok, I was thinking she was Rose and he was one of Lady Mary’s suitors (Lord Gillingham or Charles Blake). So she is but he isn’t :).

    • Melissa

He is Robb from Game of Thrones!

      • Sabrina

        <3 him!

  3. Wren

It’s rated PG. Also Daisy from Downton is in it.

  4. Angela

Helena Bonham Carter is in this which is telling me its not going to be for my 3 year old. She is a bit creepy sometimes.

  5. Charmel

The cartoon princesses aren’t modest either. I’ve always said if we put real people in a Disney animated show it would NOT be appropriate for kids. But because they are animated it is considered a children’s show. Think about Rapunzel, she is kidnapped and then her kidnapper kills her boyfriend. How is this for kids?

    • Lola

The cartoon princess used to be modest, but yeah the modern ones aren’t always, you’re right! Some would probably look like this if they were real people.

  6. Carolin

It is funny how some are upset by the girls not being modest, but what about demanding more for our daughters than to wait for some man to complete them. I’m so over the princess movies because it sends the wrong message to girls and boys…you must be beautiful and not able to do anything for yourself and one day a prince (who do not exist) will take you away from all of your problems because of course only a man can solve problems 🙂

    • Lola

They aren’t mutually exclusive :). In fact I like they complement each other. I let my daughters know they don’t need to show their bodies to be beautiful and they are just as valuable and have just as much dignity/deserve as much respect as any other person out there, including men. If men do not appreciate their value and beauty without having to show their bodies, the men are not worth their time.

    • meg

?? My daughter…now 25…loved all the princess movies when she was little. She is a strong independent woman! Movies have nothing to do with how a girl will be. It is the PARENTING. If you are a strong role model for your daughter or son and teach them to be strong and independent then they will be.

      • Liz

Exactly, Meg. If your kids are easily influenced by tv shows/ movies then that’s a whole different problem.

  7. Morgan

Most of the live action movies about Disney princesses are geared more toward adults. The stories are a bit more developed and sometimes darker, such as Maleficent was. Although I cannot speak for the Snow White movie.

  8. Nikki

I wasn’t as concerned about how ‘modestly’ she is dressed…but more so how skinny she appears. What a horrible image we are presenting to young girls about what a ‘princess’ looks like versus real body shapes. I’m more forgiving about the cartoon version since most girls consider this ‘fake’, but when it moves to real people, the perceptions definitely change.

  9. Casey

Very excited about the Frozen short being screened before it!

  10. Elise

This sounds awesome! So excited for this movie!!

  11. Anna

I’ll probably get backlash for this, but I used to feel like I wanted to shelter my daughter from these princess movies because of the “unrealistic” expectations they impose but I recently changed my mind about it when her dad and I split. I want her to believe in true love and chance meetings, and I want her to believe there is one special person out there that will love her unconditionally. No he won’t be a prince, just like she knows she’s not a princess. I want her to have big dreams of love, and to never settle for less. I grew up on them and was told they aren’t real and life doesn’t happen that way and now I look at my new single mom life and I think you know what, I want that and I believe it’s out there and I want her to too.

    • Erin

I agree — I think every woman wants to feel she is as beautiful and special as a princess, and she deserves to be made to feel that way by a man who should see her and treat her that way. We are daughters of the King after all! 🙂

  12. MommySpendsLess

I think we may be reading too much into, what should be, just entertainment. My 5.5yo has been kind of interested in the princesses for a couple years but she also has a lot of real life role models and there are a ton of other characters that she watches on TV or reads about. Her favorite princess regularly changes and she picks out and focuses on the characteristics that are important to her at the time. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) was her favorite when she was little because she liked her pink dress but then it was Jasmine because she went on adventures (I think that was during her preschool/newly independent phase) and right now it’s Ariel because my daughter likes to sing (her reasons/words). I grew up in the late 80s/90s, when Beauty and Beast, Little Mermaid and Aladdin came out and my favorite has always been Belle because she was a quiet “reader” like me. Children will learn about modesty, independence, male/female roles, feminism and relationships from a variety of influences – in most cases mostly their parents and other frequent caregivers – and I don’t think a single movie poster or even the whole 2hr film is going to make those decisions for my strong-willed little girl.

  13. D

It’s a work of fiction! I wish we could all just lighten up and put our energy into teaching our kids the values we want them to embody in REAL life. Teach them the difference between fantasy and reality, illusion and fact and we can stop worrying about trying to shield them from everything that they will encounter in their world. Cinderella movies are the least of our worries.

    • D

In fact, we should teach them to think critically enough that they can be the ones to discern between fact and fiction, fantasy and reality! Then we can relax and bask in the glory of parenthood!

    • meg

Exactly!!!! Be a good parent and role model. It’s a movie….not some life changing thing. Sigh.

  14. Jenny

Some people always a reason to complain.

  15. Jenny

Some people always find a reason to complain.

  16. angelica

might be a little off subject but has anyone ever been chosen to do a house party?? how did you like it??

    • Emily

I just got chosen for this one! It will be my 3rd. I love it! So much fun to get people together and share free things 🙂
