I have a lot of baby toys I don’t use like rattles and such? Is it any toys or there are only certain bigger toys?

  2. Cheryl

What are you doing with the toys?

    • Nl

I was thinking the same thing. I donate all old toys that my son doesn’t want to save. I hope they Are donating them.

  3. Karen

Wonder if the coupon will exclude Legos like all the holiday ones did…

    • Lori

All coupons always exclude Lego’s everywhere.

      • M

        Haha so true

    • cassie

I’ll take any unwanted legos lol

Do you have to use the coupon that day at that target? I want to get a birthday gift for my son that was sold out yesterday. They may not have it on the 28/29.

    • elise

Post says the coupon is good until 4/15

  6. Jennifer

Do you think each one of my girls could take in used toys and each get their own coupon to go buy a new toy?

    • Helen

I don’t see why not. I have always used my son, who is now 2, for extra one per customer deals. I give him the money, or a gc, and have him pay. Pretty sure stores don’t want to go about doing age discrimination. We went to Victorias Secret, the last time they did the free dog with PINK purchase, and he got to pick his own dog plush out.

    • visitor3

Absolutely. If anyone gives you a hard time, ask “Does this retailer discriminate on the basis of age?”

  7. Anna

    Are wagons considered a toy?

    • elise

If you search on their website, they are in the toy category. Then again so are bikes, which I would consider sporting goods. Wagons are a fine line for sure!

I hope that Target is not donating USED toys to kids:/ in my opinion, I feel that Target could afford to donate NEW toys! It’s kind of a slap in the face to less fortunate kids. Like they’re saying “here you go kids, while the more fortunate children get nice new toys, you guys can have these crappy used toys that they don’t want anymore. Your welcome” just my opinion though. Maybe there going to recycle them or something:) And im not saying it’s not awesome to donate your used toys(cause it is), we’ve donated some of our toys to churches for their nursery and women’s shelters. But I’m not Target and I can’t afford to by a bunch of new toys for other children. But I’m pretty sure Target can:)

    • Kayla

I think this is a nice gesture on Target’s part. I want them to stay in business, I love shopping there! I live in a state with Herbergers stores, twice a year they collect used clothing, in exchange you get a percent off coupon. Helps push people to donate that maybe wouldn’t on their own! In my case it saves me a trip to drop off at goodwill, there is always a huge line to drop off :)!

I doubt they’d donate the used toys to anyone for risk or recalls, or being broken, etc., but before you judge Target too harshly … there is a Target distribution center near where I used to live, and, once a month, our local Fire and Ambulance service would drive there, load a HUGE box truck with merchandise that either hadn’t sold and was pulled from the floor, or that was “damaged” (torn packaging, etc) and would put it out for everyone in the Town to come and choose as much of whatever they wanted. I thought this was an incredible undertaking by our local volunteers, and an impressive sense of community on Target’s part to share resources. The town in question was VERY poor, and these community events were a God-send to the residents.

      • Nl

This is why I hate posting on blogs. Only on the Internet will you get flack for saying toys shouldn’t sit in a garbage heap when a child would live to have them.
I don’t think a child w/nothing, thinks getting a used toy is a slap in the face. Lol
I was poor as a kid, I got used toys that people gave us. I loved them and remember every one. We are such consumers and wasters. It’s sad.
I take my son to used toy stores and yard sales and he loves the toys. There is so much waste. It’s sad to me.

        • ash

NI- I completely agree. reading her post I was tempted to say something but held back. I grow up with a lot of hand me downs but I didn’t complain… as a child I was just grateful to have toys.

          • nl

well at least I know I’m not the only one Ash. I just think so much is wasted and people are so used to just ‘buying a new one’.

        • Mil

Everyone has a different opinion. I used to live in a third world country, and my relatives from the USA would send boxes and boxes full of old clothes & toys. My mom would usually shed a teardrop whenever we receive a box. She felt insulted that people would think we would use their used stuff. It’s good that you were appreciative of the old toys that were given to you, but not everyone is like you. And not because others don’t share the same opinion, means that they are wrong.

          • nl

I think you missed my point. We just consume and throw away. Is is very sad to me.

            • Steph

Welp sadly that’s the world we live in. Wasteful. And all I was saying is that i think it in bad taste of Target to donate used toys(if that’s in fact what they are going to do with them) when they can clearly afford to donate new ones. Never said that a kid wouldn’t appreciate a used toy. Or that you shouldn’t donate used toys. I was just talking about this big money making corporation doing it. Hopefully they will recycle all the ones that they can.

    • Ashley57

I don’t think they are donating them anyway. They are going to sell them by the pound to Goodwill I bet, which is what they do with items that are pulled from the shelf now (like clearance, etc).

  9. ash

Collin can you share the link where you got this information? I would like to read the fine print… curious on the toys you can trade in.

    • Amanda

Everything I’m finding on there seems to be pointing towards thecrazycouponlady.com – who is not citing a link either… Maybe I’ll call my local store.

      • ash

I hear you amanda…. I am only finding info on coupon sites. I did see a post saying details will be in 3/22 target ad? I am going to wait to see the ad then call the store with questions.

  10. M

I would like to know what they do with the donated toys as well.

  11. Laura

I always see target clothes brand new with tags at goodwill. I think this does NO ONE any good. Goodwill marks it as blac label (no discounts avail) and prices it right around the target ticketed price. Ppl who shop at goodwill can’t afford those prices and people with money who shop at goodwill for deals are too savvy to know that’s not a good price. I think this is DUMB!

    • Kayla

It does do some good! Goodwill is a nonprofit, they should try to get as much as they can from donated goods!

    • Jackie

Sometimes goodwill will even have the price higher then when it was on clearence at target

      • Tia

I saw that for the first time at my Salvation Army yesterday. There was a shirt that still had the clearance tags on it for $7.99 and S.A. was selling it for $8.99. I get that it’s for charity, but I thought that was a bit strange. At least sell it for the same price on the tags. I usually think most things are fair priced.

      • Brey

Goodwill has become a huge rip off. I find clothing there that has been used and worn numerous times and being sold for close to retail price. Therefore I refuse to donate there anymore, I’ll stay local or give to friends and family in need

    • Jenn

This is the low down on Target/Goodwill link. Target sells pallets of ‘new goods’ (store returns, clearance, or out of season items) by weight to local Goodwill stores. Goodwill then prices the items to recoup some of the cost of the goods.

  12. Amanda

We have an event in my town on the first Saturday of every month called the Really Really Free Market. People bring new and used stuff, a bicycle shop comes and donates items and helps repair bikes, people come and teach people stuff, etc. It’s a way of eliminating waste and it is fantastic. People always bring food and during the spring months, people are always bringing food from their gardens. One of the people brings the bent canned food they can’t sell on the shelf even. It’s amazing what people can do when they get their communities involved.

Regardless of where the stuff is going, either you want the coupon or you don’t. It’s as simple as that. I personally think it’s a great gesture being offered. If you don’t like what Target is doing with the stuff then don’t go there or donate the toys some other way.

  13. Lucy

whats you will do by the old toys?

  14. Claire Divas

May I know why you collecting old toys?
