Remember to tip your barista! It’s a harder job than most people think and the pay is decent, but most employees struggle to make ends meet.

    • Cora

      Like many workers do…

      • Jennifer

        Agreed.

    • Bea

I did this job as a choice in college because it was easy and low stress. There are only so many drinks to make and each one only takes a minute at the most. With drinks being an average of $5 I never expected a tip, I was just happy people were willing to pay that much so that I could have a job with the wage that I agreed to.

      • Laura

Agree – so do I tip the McDonald’s worker because I want my burger a bit different? No
        If you make minimum wage….

        • Jennifer

Does that mean you think all people who work at McDonald’s could do this job? Some get by, but there are some who are actually skilled baristas.

          • jenn

Well, good for them for learning the trade (like anyone else excelling at their job), but at like $5 a drink and them earning a full wage (not like a waitress), i dont think a tip is warranted unless you have a huge order or someone does something above and beyond for some reason.

          • Laura

According to Bea, it’s an easy job. So yes. I think someone from McDonald’s could work at Starbucks. With training, it’s like any other job. (subway etc) I agree with Sonya, why should I tip a Starbucks employee when other jobs don’t get tipped. I will agree to disagree with you on tipping for a Starbucks drink.

            • Jennifer

You can be as rude as you want. I don’t think half price Frappuccinos are $5 though. Tips are like getting bonuses at work (but much smaller). Sorry that I appreciate those around me. You all seem like some angry people. I’m cheap but I would never not tip someone who is providing a service.

            • K

In my opinion, if 95% of the population can push buttons on a McDonald’s cash register, they can push the button on the espresso machine at starbucks. Long gone are the days where they have to manually make a shot the machine does that for them. Also steaming the mil consists of pouring milk and putting it under the wand. I have more faith in people then saying they can’t do that. And speaking of bonuses, starbucks is proving a very nice bonus to their workers by offering free college tuition to Arizona state so that the employees can eventually move on to better jobs. I say kudos to starbucks for not expecting their workers to stay in a low paying job for the rest of their lives.

            • Jennifer

If you think being a barista is just pushing a button, you need to pay attention on your next starbucks visit. 🙂 and they choose where the students go to school, not to mention that right now most starbucks employees are already college graduates looking for jobs as the economy slowly improves. When I worked at starbucks I was the only one as young as college age. The rest were trying to get out and move up in the world.

            • Q

So do you tip your internet, TV (if you have it), water, trash/recycle pick up, electricity company, tire/oil change place, stockers at the stores you shop, etc. ? They all provide a service.

    • Jen S.

Poor cold bar peeps! Should have their own tip jar;) Haha! I would also say, be patient! Because 90% of drinks at this time will be frapps, so your frapp will prob be 10th in line when u order it. But its worth it!;)

    • Sonya

Starbucks workers shouldn’t be treated any differently than other similar workers. Why do Starbucks workers especially deserve a tip for doing a simple job?! Harder and lower paying jobs don’t get tips! It’s a ridiculous idea, obviously Jennifer is a barista or friend of one.

      • Jennifer

Sonya, I can tell you have never been a Starbucks barista. Oh, and I was a barista in college. I’m a paralegal. 🙂 trust me, 95% of the population couldn’t handle being a barista. I hope your day gets better Sonya!

        • Laura

I’m sorry, but that is just too funny! 95% of the population couldn’t do that job!!! I’m glad I’m a surgeon. Much easier!!

          • Jessica

FTW. Love this. Thanks for having such an easy job Laura!! 😉

            • Laura

              😃😃

        • Sonya

          Jennifer,

You’re obviously being biased because you’ve worked there. If you really believe being a simple Barista is so difficult that 95% of the population can’t do it then I feel sorry for you. By the way, what does you being a paralegal now have anything to do with this topic?! I’m also a professional but I’m not bragging about my job randomly.

You have a lovely day as well!

          • Jennifer

Not sure why my response didn’t post, but I never bragged about being a paralegal. What’s free to brag about there? I simply noted that I am not a barista and told you what I actually do. My heart breaks knowing there are nasty people like you in the world.

            • Jamie

All jobs are different and challenging in their own ways. Just appreciate everyone around you and be thankful that there are opportunities “big” and “small” in the work force. I was reading through here and just couldn’t help to think about Collin’s video just a few days ago and how crushed she was with the cyber bullying on her sight. I’m a high school teacher– couldn’t be a paralegal, barista, and def not a surgeon so I am super thankful for those that obtain the knowledge and skills to do those jobs! Thanks for your services.

      • jenn

        I agree with you!!

    • M

It’s great that you like to tip people for their services. It’s now great however, to tell others to tip.

      • M

        It’s NOT great

        • Jennifer

I don’t think I said I would force people too. Just trying to remind people that others could use support and understanding and then I was attacked for no reason. Thankfully, I don’t take “mean girls” seriously.

  3. Andrea

Yay can’t wait. I knew it was coming. Always around Mother’s Day!!

  4. Jessica

I am going to gain so much weight. Lol 😍

  5. Laura

    Up to 50% off?

    • Jennifer

      “Offering up”–as in offering 50% off. 🙂

  6. Nikki

Can you post this again on April 30th? I will forget this far out!

    • Laura

Nikki, plug it into your phone – this has helped me in the past
      – just a thought

  7. babymair

    • nicolegammeter

      You are so welcome! 🙂

  8. Ann

I started making my own caramel fraps at home and I am hooked! I love how I can make them a tad less sweet than the ones at Starbucks or McDonalds! They take less than a minute to throw together too.
I buy a container of Starbucks macchiato from Target in the refrigerated section and add about a cup to my Nutribullet, fill it with ice and add a small splash of heavy whipping cream and a drizzle of Hershey’s caramel syrup. Blend it up, add some whipped topping from a can and a drizzle of the caramel syrup and you have your own for less than a dollar a piece!

    • Monica

I make Frappes with the Starbucks Iced Via packets. I just add some milk and ice and blend.

      • Ann

        yum!

      • Jen S.

Ive done the same with via packets!! I blend one with vanilla ice cream and done! You can drizzle and whip as u like:)

      • CJS

Those Starbucks Via ‘instant’ packets are really good…I have tried several ones for both hot & cold coffees…and VERY impressive for ‘instant’! I wish they were cheaper!!

    • jhnicole

      thanks ann

  9. babymair

Ann.. thx so much.!!!!!. I am going to make these for my sister..on non treatment days.. i so lv this site.. and all the helpful comments from readers.!!!!

  15. NJD

WOOHOO! Just in time to go along with the Starbucks gift cards my son will give his teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.

  16. Jennifer

Wow. You’re one angry chick. I wouldn’t trust you with a knife, that’s for sure. I feel sorry for you. I would tip you if I saw you.

  17. Jennifer

Weird. Didn’t know I was bragging about my job. Was saying what my job actually does because you, a stranger, said I was likely a barista. I can tell you wouldn’t make it as a barista, but it doesn’t seem like you dream of being one.

    • Sonya

No,can’t say I “dream” of being one…my dreams are MUCH bigger than that. Lol, you’re obsession with Barista’s is hilarious. That’s right,I assumed you probably are or knew one because no one else would care so much about tips for a random profession unless they’re in it. Keyword probably and this stranger was pretty spot on since you admitted you were one. Anyway,I’ll stop there, after reading your comment that you “would never not tip someone who is providing a service.” I see you’re just being difficult on purpose. Either that or are delusional…good luck tipping almost everyone you encounter at a business since they have all provided you a service. Get real, goodbye!

      • Jennifer

I do tip those who provide a service. Doesn’t need to be much, a $1 goes a long way. I don’t need your luck. I make my own. 🙂

        • Blair

Don’t forget to tip Collin because she’s providing a service. Haha.

          • Jennifer

She gets my tip every time I use her affiliate links. 🙂

  18. Juanita's

    Yay! Frappuccinos! Thanks for posting!

  19. Mimi

Wow! I was all excited about this until I came and read what all of you Debbie Downers were going back and forth about for way too long ! Now I’m feeling a little depressed Lmao….It’s half price tasty beverages ! Get a grip already .wtf

  20. Michelle

Let’s keep it positive and talk about how great discounted frappuccinos are and forget the rest of the nonsense 😉

  21. chen

Does singapore also included for 50% off

  22. Lisa

The idea of having to tip everyone is ridiculous. I do my job as a dental hygienist and don’t expect a tip. Tipping has gotten way out of hand, you are earning a wage just do your job and stop looking for tips

    • Laura

I agree Lisa. If someone happens to receive a tip – well that’s awesome! But it has gotten out of control. For the most part at Starbucks I order an unsweetened black iced tea lemonade. I see how they make it. They pour the tea to the first line. The lemonade to the second. Ice to the top. Shake. Pour into another glass. That in my opinion doesn’t deserve a tip!

  23. Erika anne rosales

Thats awesome .. i wil never miss that day..

  24. Kristi

    Yay!!!!

  25. Earvin Grant

    Perfect Summer Gift!
