Wow! Not sure if it’s available to everyone or not, but I was able to spread payements over 6 months, interest free. So $15.80 each month!

      Best buy?

    • Lindsay

That deal worked for me, too! I paid $19.80 for the 16GB. I had to use Amazon’s full website to see the payment option – it didn’t show up in the app or mobile site.

Where did you see the offer on Amazon?

      • Lindsay

It was an option on the far right side of the item page on the Amazon full website. Look in the panel near the “add to cart” button. I can’t see it anymore, but I’m not sure if it is because I already used the deal, or if it isn’t an option anymore.

I have been watching the kids one for weeks! I too wish that one would go on sale. I was trying to think of a way to set this one up to be similar to the kids one. But then I won’t have the 2 yr warranty and the 1yr of FreeTime. Smh…

    • Jess

Kids were on sale not terribly long ago. I considered them a few weeks before Easter, thinking of basket gifts.

    Best case suggestions for these?

Search fingertips888 on eBay. I buy all my kindle covers there. They come with accessories and any color you can imagine and VERY inexpensive.

    • Jen

I have this kindle and I use the Kindle Free Time Kid-Proof Case. It’s an awesome case.. Plus I don’t worry that my kids will break it when they are using it.

My son and I have a Kindle fire, they’re both 2 years old. Still in PERFECT condition. He’s been more rough on his than I have. Both tablets have been dropped on concrete. I have the Marware foam case from Amazon and he has the i-blason armor box for his.

Beware if you turn on free time so the kids can use it and not order stuff with one click they can’t use the amazon prime video. Mine is sitting not being used at all. I spent a ton of time downloading magazines and books and it reset itself to factory settings.

    • Cathy

I put a password on mine. My son can browse at videos, movies etc but cannot buy anything without me putting in the password in first. Can be a pain on Prime items but saves me from him buying everything.

      • Bjmeadows

The kindle I have tries to force one click ordering even though I have a password set for all of my other devices.

Do you know if you can print coupons from this?

For $20 more you can also order the 16 GB one. I didn’t realize that you can now select from 5 different colors and this generation has a camera. Love that.

I’m thinking about getting this for my 2 year old, any suggestions if this might be good for that age or not? I’m not sure, ive only owned an ipad and galaxy tablet..thank you!

    • Christine

I have one for my 2 year old and she loves it. She mostly just uses it to watch Netflix but it’s way easier for her to carry it compared to our ipad. And we got a Poetic case so it’s protected. I liked the option of her being able to have a less expensive kindle rather than using the Ipad in case anything happens to it. I think the kids mode on it is great too.

These are great but just so everyone is aware, we have had issues with both of ours. They both stopped holding a charge and one of them we’ve had replaced twice. They also both randomly freeze and have to be shut off during use. Just a heads up!

  10. Diana

I’m definitely getting one. But to be on the safe side, going to order mine through Best Buy just for warranty. If anything happens,i would rather go to my local best buy. Finally something for myself! 🙂

I don’t recommend buying it unless you buy one with a large amount of memory. I was excited to buy kindle fire hd for kids on sale, when hip2save posted about it, and my stepson calls it a ‘stinking kindle’ (of course we told him if he calls it that again, he’s going to lose it). Long story short: He has maybe 3 games, a couple books, (he doesn’t use freetime , he’s 9). When memory fills up, which is all the time, he can’t watch videos, because weirdly, a message pops up that wifi was blocked , delete things to get wifi back. And sometimes it’ll be an additional pain because when I try to delete things it’ll say it needs wifi so it’s a vicious circle! I wish I never bought it.

Thank you all, I ordered it for my 2 year old daughter with the 16 GB memory, case and headphones. Hope this helps her have more learning resources available.
