I guess they found it was “too easy” by just doing points?

  2. karen

I think that is great as sometimes the kids throw out the box before I get home from work.

    • Katie

And sometimes the codes are impossible to read! Especially on the cookies or things wrapped in cellophane…

      • spongemonkey

AND you won’t be able to sit on codes waiting for future bonus points!

        • karen

          Darn! I loved those bonuses

  3. Catherine

so do we have to upload a receipt AND attach our loyalty card for the codes to be credited?

    • Susan

No, if you attach a loyalty card then you can not upload receipts from that retailer the loyalty card is for. It’s on or the other for each retailer. HTH.

    • mel

If you attach your loyalty card, you don’t need to upload your receipt. If you don’t attach a card (or the store you purchase doesn’t have a loyalty card) you upload a receipt.

    • Happymama

Also, it said it could take up to 5 days to be credited for adding your loyalty card. I kept trying to add it thinking it didn’t work but it’s there…patience is the key:)

  4. Kathy

Kroger isn’t even on the list of retailers you can add

    • Susan

Publix is also not on the list. This seems harder to me, not easier! I guess it is easier for KFR employees??

  5. Brooke

I guess I need use my code now. I was saving them for bonus day

  6. Kelly

I don’t like this change, I always save up my codes for when they offer the bonus points when you enter 4 codes.

  7. Happymama

There is also 500 points you can earn by doing 5 different things like update your info etc. Look for the email from KFR titled: “New & improved: KFR is bigger, better and easier than better”.

    • Desiree

Thanks for the info! I just earned 300 more points by doing some of the activities (connecting to Facebook, watching the video and updating my profile).

  8. Laura

I sent my first 2 receipts by text. 2 days later I receive a text stating they added points to my account. I can’t say it’s easier, just something different I need to get used to.

  9. Michael

Big Mistake this is why I stopped using other loyalty programs I do a large shopping and it’s too hard to photograph the whole reciept.

    • Diana

      I so agree

  10. Amie

Terrible. It doesn’t say on the website when they are going to stop taking codes. The photographing and texting seems like a pain, this does not seem easier to me.

    • Melissa

I hope not soon, I have about 100 to enter, so I’m hoping it’s more than 5 days lol

      • Natasha

I contacted them and the code entry is not ending as they will still print codes on the boxes for the special promotions like the books, movie tickets, etc!

        • Melissa

Ah, ok, great! Thanks for sharing!

        • desiree

thank goodness! i was worried the free points codes would go away too if they got rid of the code thing all together!

      • spongemonkey

Melissa – due to the Avengers promo (bobbleheads and/or movie tix) ending at year’s end plus KFR product bonuses expiring 12/31/15, KFR will have to allow manual code entry at least until end of year + KFR is legally responsible to give written notification (minimum 30+ days prior) of the exact date for termination of manual code input. They cannot & are not allowed to just shut down manual code entry without warning.

  11. Melissa

I usually get my codes through friends and family so this change isn’t beneficial to me at all, though I hope it’s better for many people!

    • Amie

So do I. Not looking forward to the change. Maybe I can convince people to save their receipts?

      • Melissa

Yea maybe! I feel a little odd for asking for receipts though for some reason lol

    • JA

I hadn’t even thought of that. I get KFR and Coke codes from my in-laws sometimes. They already think I’m crazy with the codes, no way I’m asking for a receipt. I guess that’s what KFR is really trying to do away with. If you don’t pay for it yourself, you don’t get the points.

      • Katie

But I’ve reversed it! I just signed up my mother’s loyalty cards – she always forgets to give me the codes, this way it will automatically give me points every time she shops!! 🙂

  12. Yoli

Hello. I get that once we register our loyalty cards we don’t need to submit a receipts, But… Do we still have to manually enter the codes found inside the products or will they automatically be entered as long as we use our loyalty cards at checkout? Sorry if this was on the website, I couldn’t seem to find the answer to my question. Thanks.

    • Atlanta

You do NOT need to manually enter the codes if you submit the receipt or use a loyalty card.

      • Yoli

Hi Atlanta! Thanks for the info. 😉

        • Atlanta

          You’re welcome!

    • Melissa

If the box still has a code I would still enter it even though you entered a receipt. You will get double points until they do away with the codes in boxes. I think that will take a little while so I would still enter the codes while you can.

      • spongemonkey

Interesting & nice loophole bonus if it works

  13. Janette

This will not be better for me… I usually save mine for the bonus days. Now we have to enter receipts within 14 days of purchase.

  14. Rebecca

Does this mean no more awesome bonus codes we get from colin and her amazing staff? Thanks for all you do!

    • spongemonkey

I don’t see any reason for bonus codes to stop since KFR intends future promos where manual entry will still be required. See Post #10 above.

  15. melissa

Taking photographs of receipts is a real pain. I don’t mind doing it for Ibotta because I get real money but just for KFR points?
Also, adding a loyalty card means I can’t save my points for bonus days.

    • Happymama

Absolutely. I opted for the store loyalty card link, but I rarely go to the store I linked my card to BUT it’s better than trying to find that one receipt from the bottom of the purse while the toddler is jumping ff the couch… LOL receipt scanning is not happening.

      • Heatherr

I am glad that I am not the only one with this thought. My purse looks like a tornado hit it, lol. Between my coupons, receipts, wallet, keys, notebook, extra kids clothes, wipes, etc. its complete chaos.

  16. jenn

I just realized that Pringles are eligible for points but I cannot locate the required 16 digit code on any of my pringles. The closest thing is a 14 digit number on the bottom of the peel off top. Does someone know where the correct code is on pringles?

    • Atlanta

They just partnered with Pringles so there probably isn’t a code on the package. Take a picture if your receipt and text it to 89332. H2H.

      • Laura

Thanks – totally forgot about Pringles. I just bought them this morning.

  17. Bunny

I had 11,007 points and they are now gone 🙁 It has not be 90 days since my last code. Bummer

    • Atlanta

      Contact KFR customer support

    • Lynn l

Yes, contact them but know that there is a chance they won’t do anything. My mom lost about 20,000 points and they didn’t care (account drained for inactivity?). So sad they are changing this program.

    • spongemonkey

NOTE TO ALL KFR MEMBERS: To be “active” on Kellogg’s, the least you need to do is LOG INTO THEIR SITE at least once every 90 days. You DO NOT need to input a code.

    • EmeraldLily

I had a glitch with my points once and even allowed some of them to expire for not being active within their timeframe. In both situations I contacted customer service and was given back all my points including the ones that had recently expired. So it is worth it to try 🙂

  18. Lindak

I hope they don’t do away with product code entry as i have several morningstar items in my freezer and it may be a while before i open them and get to the codes.

  19. lastquartertsuki

I’m really unhappy about this change. I tried taking photos of my receipt with my mobile phone and uploading them through the mobile site (like they say to do), but it kept crashing. So then I tried attaching photos/scans via my PC and it still wouldn’t work. I’m not exactly a newbie when it comes to tech, so I know I didn’t do anything incorrectly. I think this is MUCH harder than typing in codes from a box, and I feel like this is designed to slow down the point-earning process even more. :/

  20. Pat

IMPORTANT. By using the loyalty card or submitting receipts it earns points but that is IN ADDITION to the codes on the boxes (until those go away. Special promos or otherwise = double point credited …..BOOM. Go KFR

    • Stacy

I was thinking the same thing!!

  21. Shelby

Ugh..don’t like! I receive most of my codes from family and friends! Never fails…

  22. EmeraldLily

I am disappointed by this change. No longer can you save the codes and use them when there are bonuses (which is probably good for the company I suppose. That is a bummer but worse than that for me is the new way of adding in points. I so 90% of my grocery shopping at Kroger. Kroger’s loyalty card is not linked here which really makes this difficult for me. Anyone who shops at Kroger knows exactly what I am talking about. I did my weekly shopping this past Sunday for my family of 5 and my recent is the length of a football field. Not really, but I WAS able to wrap it around an average size magazine (OK magazine) almost 2 full wraps front and back. To clarify, That is a little more than 3 and a half pages of a magazine cover put together. Taking a picture of this….every single time I go shopping….This is so not worth it to me. The only way around it is to separate your Kelloggs items into a separate purchase so you don’t have to copy so much but that is also a pain. Probably equally annoying to the customer in line behind you. On top of that…I was getting the codes my parents were saving up for me to add in since they don’t bother with the points. All around it is a bummer for me. It will likely cause me to end my point collection unless the Kroger card is added on.

  23. Vicki

Yeah. This sounds like too much work to me. The camera on my phone has been broken for quite awhile, so it will be difficult to photograph receipts. I had 20,000+ points, and cashed them out last week, for fear of losing them.

  24. heidi

If you don’t like this new program tell them on facebook. I did.

  25. Angela

I also do not like the change at all. I don’t like the fact that we now have to have a picture of our receipt to get the points. This bothers me for a lot of reasons, but the main reason is because of all the information they are able to see from my receipts- when I was shopping, what time of day, how I paid, how many coupons I used, the brand of maxi pads I use – the list goes on and all of it is really none of their business. As far as them maybe not liking how people were getting points from relatives, what is it to them? People still bought their product no matter who enters the codes. I think we all need to start complaining about this to them. If they decide not to change it back to codes on products, thanks Kelloggs for giving me a reason to buy General Mills – at least General Mills has box tops for my kids school that are super easy to redeem!

    • Jean

This is exactly what I am concerned about. It’s an invasion of privacy. They have no business having access to or tracking everything that I buy. Just so many things wrong with this. Might be the end of Kelloggs rewards for me.

  26. Serena

I don’t shop at a store with a loyalty card and I’m leery of the receipt option. I was participated in the Walmart/ Hotwheels program that used downloaded receipts and those didn’t always credit.

  27. Sarah

I got my first smartphone just a month ago so I understand how incredibly annoying this will be for people with regular cell phones. You’ll have to take a picture of the receipt, hook up your camera to the computer, upload them…it just isn’t worth it.

And I agree with others – KFR doesn’t need to know where/when I shop, what type of payment I use, what other products I buy… It’s kinda creepy.

It’s a shame because I really did like this program. But after they changed the coupons amounts and then charge 850 pts…it’s been downhill from there. Oh well.

  28. Maggie

The privacy concern is real. Receipt data is valuable to big data aggregators who use it for “consumer dossiers” — complete with your home address, cell phone (you texted), and email (used to sign up). They’ll likely sell your info to other companies who want to sell you stuff for matching certain criteria, and use what you buy to determine the age of your kids, the kind of pets you have, illnesses, etc. It’s kind creepy.

I’ll just be relying on promo codes.

    • Cassandra

I didn’t even think about that Maggie. Also, kind of related, but i have been receiving…literally hundreds of travel brochures a month. Now I feel like my information was sold by a company. Ugh.

  29. Ms. PointlessGibberish

It was fun while it lasted I guess but I’m not going to scan my receipts in–that is ridiculous. I also have an issue with the privacy matter.

  30. Linda

Bummer! I also do not like the privacy issues.

  31. Kerry

I don’t like the change at all either. I typically get codes from my MIL and sister who have kids so more codes. I won’t be able to do that any longer. I find it very difficult to scan a long receipt and it won’t be worth it. I just entered whatever codes I have last night and as soon as I get to the reward I want, I will redeem and not bother. Sad, because I liked the bonuses too. Another bites the dust.. just like the Coke Rewards. I’m cashing that out. Ever since they changed the program in the FALL it’s ridiculous and not worth the time. I will take someone’s advice above and mention that I’m not happy with the change due to the receipts etc. Oh well, it was good while it lasted 🙁

    • Nick

Yeah, after the fall changes started, they keep making it worse. You used to need 500 points to print 2 coupons that expired after 30 days. Now you need 850 points to print 1 coupon that expires after 14 days.

One of the excuses was really ridiculous. They claimed some previous coupon sold out! How can a virtual coupon that you print sell out? It can’t. It’s not like they have 50,000 printed coupons that you order, and after a while their supply finished. Sold out! LOL!

      🙂

  32. Nick

Any idea if KFR will do another ‘bonus for codes entered’ promotion? I still have a few unopened kellogg’s boxes and those have a code inside the box.

    • spongemonkey

Unknown. They haven’t had any product bonuses in a few weeks. Here’s KFR’s link to current list of remaining product bonuses, but they’re mostly for brand new Kellogg’s products introduced. Most expire 6/30 or 12/31 of this year:

      https://www.kelloggsfamilyrewards(Dot)com/en_US/promotionsCategoryPoints(Dot)html

      OR:
      After logging in,
Mouse over “OFFERS” topic & click on “Get Bonus Points” link highlighted in red.

      • Nick

        thank you

  33. Stanley Roper

Time to redeem my points and close my KFR account. I’ll let them know I don’t want to participate due to privacy concerns.

  34. Amanda

Here’s a product code for the first person who sees this 🙂

    It’s: MLT7-K3Y1-CMKP-PW6L
