Does anyone have experience selling here? I just sent my box in but the reviews online were so mixed. Thanks though Collin, been waiting for a god deal to buy on here!

No but I am wondering the same thing. I have used thredup twice before but only ended up making about $20 after I opted to have my unselected items shipped back to me ($12.99 shipping). I am considering swap.com for my remaining items.

Emilie, the negative reviews I continuously read were that the site would reject a lot of items (thus costing you more money to have them shipped back). I also wasn’t real keen on the fees they take, but the items I had have been sitting for awhile and I always donate, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

I sold here last year to give it a try but I didn’t like it very well. I rather sell on eBay. I wondered why things were so pricey for the qualify and when I sold I finally understood. You have to seek things at a high rate to be able to profit any from it because they take 1 buck and plus on top a percentage which I believe it’s 20%. So some shorts at 5 bucks you will not get that.

Things have changed now and idk how much but before you had to pay to ship your items and then they have to go thru it and accept some. Whatever they don’t take it either gets back to you at your charge or gets “donated”. The items I sent were mostly in like new condition and I was able to sell a few but some others I sent back to me and ended up gifting it because it took so long to even sell.
I also tried swapping but that’s a waiting game and some people don’t want to swap with you. I only tried swapping with other people a couple of times but most of the items I wanted were from swap which would be under netcycler and they will never swap. With eBay I sell things and only give 9% to eBay and the rest is mine. It’s so much easier and faster.
Honestly you can give to a try but I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends, I would say it’s a waste of time. Specially when one is trying to be frugal and save money.

Darn, thanks for the in-depth review Claudia. I’ve never sold on eBay and didn’t feel like I had enough stuff to try and sell there. I guess I won’t expect too much from this experience then!

Your very welcomed! I have been selling on eBay since 2007 and I don’t regret it. I don’t pay a store fee because I don’t have that much. Items but you can sell anything! Baby clothes, diapers, kitchen stuff, perfumes. Anything! I made so much money in eBay and with that money I bought other items for my kids. You just have to make sure you describe the item as it is and not try to cheat people like some folks out there do.
Now, eBay do charge for listing fees and shipping fees but it don’t compare to swap. You still pocket a lot of money and the way I do it to save its take advantage of their free listing promotions. Hth and good luck!

I agree I have had much more success on eBay! Even when offering free shipping you can still make much more profit. A friend of mine would find cheap name brand clothes from goodwill and resell them on eBay. Of course it can be time consuming though. I’ve also purchased several things from PoshMark but haven’t had any luck selling there yet. I’ve had the most luck on For Sale group pages on Facebook for the area I live in. No trips to the post office and I make them pick up from me when my hubby is home.

I think Hip2save crashed the website. I can’t get it to load 🙂

Maybe try another browser as it’s loading quickly for me in Chrome. 🙂

I don’t have any experience with selling through the site, but the prices are not anything alluring. I am pretty sure I could walk right into Kohls today with their various coupons and buy shorts and shirts for my son, brand-new, for about the same or even less than the prices on the site.

Perhaps if you really like a particular brand or something like that, Swap would be a good resource. But it doesn’t seem to offer any great bargains for me. Perhaps the high fees explain the high prices.

I’ve bought and sold on swap and it used to be good, but now it’s no better than a garage sale. I don’t recommend selling there, they “lost” my box of about 40 items. Buying from swap is ok, but the deals aren’t any better than kohls or old navy, and the stuff is used. You can return things though.

I’m curious if they charge for return shipping on items you’ve purchased but don’t fit?

I sent in 120 lbs of clothes to swap.com in June. Just got the email from them today (September 10) that they have finally gone through everything. They accepted 21 out of hundreds of clothes. Seems their criteria is extremely stringent. Will not bother next time and just donate everything where the items go to the truly needy through Social Services.
