FREE Entertainment for the kiddos this summer! Microsoft retail stores are hosting YouthSpark Summer Camps for kids ages 8-13 throughout the rest of the summer. This FREE camp is divided into two age groups for beginner Game Coders (recommended for ages 8-11) and intermediate Game Coders (recommended for ages 8-11 or older). The camps are 2 hours a day, Monday-Thursday, and are available at Microsoft Retail Stores throughout the country.

Space is limited and workshops fill up quickly (some may already be full!) – head on over here to sign your kids up now! Just scroll down, select your state and store, and then you will then be able to select the week and class you would like to sign up for. Please note that a parent must stay with your children during Camp.

In fact, Hip2Save reader, Breann, just sent this email and the pictures above: “My four boys (as well as my niece who is visiting) spent the week at the free Microsoft camp! It was such a great experience!”

Today is my kids’ last day at the coding camp. They have had an absolute blast with it and are talking to each other about it for hours outside of the camp.

All the kids in this class are in class with a sibling because when signing up, you can only sign one child up per Microsoft account. We all put a note in the note place that we had extra kids, but the class filled up. Fortunately they added another class just for people with that problem. Some of the other parents didn’t realize they would have to stay and were upset (they thought they would have to stay in the mall and could go shopping, but you actually have to stay in the store).

If you have a younger child, I recommend seeing if someone can watch them or sign up with another mom and one takes the big kids to camp and the other stays home with the little ones. Trying to keep my little guy still and entertained is not easy for 2 hours, especially during the parent class part.

Overall, a wonderful experience and I look forward to signing them up for more next summer, if not before then.

Ours are all full. Wonder if people don’t show up we could register at the store 1st day?
