Wow, those are some crazy good prices! Besides the travel dates listed, are there any catches with this airline? Like paying for a carry on bag?

    • Just Me

Yes you pay for carry on but you can bring a bag that fits under the seat strict size measurements tho.

    • Jackie

Yes, they nickel and dime you for everything. As long as you understand and accept this in advance, they’re still the cheapest option around. They charge for seat assignments (if you don’t pay for one in advance, one will be randomly assigned when you check-in and you could be separated from your party), checked bags (no free bags at all), carry-on bags, etc. It is cheapest to pay for your luggage when booking as the price increases after that. You are allowed to take one free personal item on the plane and it must fit under the seat in front of you (backpack, purse, etc.) – specific dimensions are available on their website. There are no free snacks, drinks, or anything on the plane.

Ahhh, I knew there had to be something. Thanks for the info! This would be a great deal in my pre-child, spur of the moment days but not now for family travel.

We recently flew with frontier and brought our two kids, 4 and 2. I thought it was the easiest flight with kids. Crew members were polite. We flew no frills, no seat assignments and we were seated automatically together at check in. The seats don’t recline, but I actually liked it because I had more room in front of me. If you sign up for free membership, checked bags were $15. Really tough to beat the price even over allegiant and southwest.

            Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Is allegiant mainly an east coast airline? I’m in ohio.

            • angie

There is one in ohio, just go to their site. We have flown out of it and it was a great price!

We did NOT have this experience when we didn’t pay for seat assignments. We were all over the plane, but three of us were more or less in the same section. My 7 yr old was assigned a seat by herself 17 rows away from the nearest member of our party.

            • Tia

Did you get to the airport extra early? Spirit Airlines also charges for seat assignments, but we always go early and have been seated together.

            • Melissa

Wow! Why the airline would separate a child 17 rows from her parents is crazy. It is like a form of extortion. Pay up or we will separate you from your little girl.

            • Kristie

Am I a terrible parent for hoping they separate my party? 8 kids ages 4,5,6,6,7,18,19,20…. we started over. I want to be 17 rows away from them all he he. (I say this jokingly, deep down I’d never let it happen, but I’m imagining a peaceful plane ride…..)

Darn all the good travel dates for me have to be completed by 9/12 to receive a good price.

  3. Ashdon

anyone know if you are randomly seated if they charge for that?

    • Sara

No, you do not pay for random seat assignment.

Frontier has turned completely to junk. Having been a Summit tier for years and an Elite tier I can see why the rewards plan is on the verge of ending. I’m burning my miles as best I can but still will be stuck with a bunch. Southwest is better overall besides Frontier down to a daily flight to Denver now. YUCK.

    • Becky

If you need help burning miles…. 🙂

  5. Krista

The only choices out of Seattle are Denver or Cleveland….. :/

Flights to Philadelphia from Charlotte and back were only $30 each way. We did opt for “the works” bundle which included best seat available selection (we chose the roomier seats), one carry on per person, one checked bag per person, refundability, and flight flexibility. After that, our total was $291 for two adults, round trip, at reasonable hours. No other airlines were even close to that price for the same travel dates (I checked Kayak and Southwest).

  7. Jennifer

This airline is absolutely horrible! Please don’t do it! The customer representatives on the phone are rude and hang-up on people. My family has traveled with this airline and have had great difficulty with them. I will never fly frontier airlines.

  8. Julie

Really? I have never had any issues with Frontier and have used this airline several times. However, it might be partly because my mother taught me… that if you have nothing nice to say- don’t say nothing at all. Just saying…
