Or if you use your ”R”Us Credit Card, you’ll save 30% on a new car seat or travel system when you trade-up a used one.
If you have more than one old car seat/travel system to trade-up, you can bring multiple items to your store during the program and you’ll snag one 25% discount for each item traded up. Just keep in mind that you only use one savings coupon per each new item purchased and the new item must be in the participating product categories and from the participating manufacturers.

Silly question, but when did they start this expiration date mess? Can you even buy a car seat second hand at all?? I remember when my son was a baby, and Once Upon A Child would sell used car sears (14 yes ago). We had a second child a couple year ago and I feel so out of the loop with these sort of things! I have 2 car seats that my little one outgrew and was waiting for this trade-in event just to get rid of them….it feels wrong I can’t donate them. Will Goodwill even take them? I haven’t seen a car seat there in ages…where the heck do they all go? lol
A lot of second hand places can’t sale baby items due to recall and safety purposes.

Does the base expire also. My kids are 8 and almost 6. I probably used a borderline expired one on the second kid.
Car seat expiration has been there as long as I can remember. It’s a safety thing. And personally I wouldn’t buy a used seat. You never know if its been in an accident.
The children’s resale stores around here will take items that traditional thrift stores can’t take and donate them to foster care. Many areas also have car seat recycling drop offs, for car seats that are truly expired and/ or unusable.
Do you have to use the coupon yourself or can you give it to someone else? I have about 3 old car seats that are expired and I don’t need a new one, but my sister is expecting.

My store told me I have to use the coupon the same day I bring in the old carseat! How annoying! I just want t..o give the coupon to someone who can use it. The fine print says, “…Valid 9/1 – 9/30/15. Trade-Up coupon provided in store on day of trade-up… “. But does that mean coupon is expiring that same day?

does anyone know when Babies R Us has the event where you get a free gift when purchasing over a certain amount?? Usually there are 3 different gifts like a safety kit if you spend over $50 and a monitor if you spend over $100…. It was around this time last year when they also had the Graco seat rebate
When they do promotions like this, it’s one or the other. So they did the free item giveaway because they didn’t feel like doing the trade in (Due to high disposal fees of trade in items, as well as loss in margin for high value coupons.) Monthly, they’ll run promos for smaller free items. Like free sippy cup or bottle if you spend over $15 (with coupon), or I think right now if you spend more than $50 on Huggies products you get one of those diaper clutches for free. The online ad is your best friend!

Does anyone know if you can use the coupon to buy either a car seat base (for an infant car seat) or a frame stroller for an infant seat to sit in (not the full system – just the core frame with wheels)?

Do you have to trade “up”, and does it have to be expired? — we have an infant seat (not expired but was in an accident so technically should not be used though I don’t think it was damaged), but we are having another baby so would just be looking to get another infant seat – not upgrade to convertible

It sounds like they trash ’em. Big bummer. There are places that recycle them (just Google it), but might not be as convenient as taking them to your local Toys R Us. “Items brought to our stores will be disposed of properly so they can’t be put back into circulation. We consulted with product safety organizations and they agreed that disposal of these items is necessary.”
I was in a super minor accident with my current seat (which is only a couple months old) can i still bring it in for the 25% off?
That is a GREAT reason to trade in your seat, Amanda. They recycle/dispose of the seats that are traded…so they can be in an accident, expired etc. ANY accident they say it is not safe to use the same seat!
