Happy Friday: Earn Christmas Spending MoneySent from reader, Rebekah:

I have been following your website for quite some time, but in the past I’ve usually focused just on the really good sales online or in-store like your Amazon deals posts or when you post about Target deals, etc. But we bought our first house in August and things have been a little bit tighter financially. I’ve been thinking of ways to still make Christmas nice for our two kiddos without spending ANY money. Let’s just say I follow your website a lot more closely now, many times per day.

I’ve seen you post a lot about apps/websites like Ibotta and Swagbucks and finally decided to give a few of them a try. After using Ibotta and Swagbucks for only TWO WEEKS, I’m almost ready to cash out and get two $25 gift cards, just by submitting receipts, taking surveys etc. If I combine this with earnings from Walmart’s Savings Catcher that I started two months ago, my total non-work earnings are up to just over $60! I also just redeemed my Pampers rewards points for a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card and used it to buy a small lego set! I am beyond excited and so glad I finally started using some of these other money saving/earning options! And I think I can actually achieve my goal of not spending any money on gifts this holiday season!

That is awesome! Don’t forget other sites with a referral/sign-up bonus for a freebie:
Schoola, ThredUp, JCPenney Rewards App, Yerdle — there must be more, but of course I can’t think of any now that I’ve started typing 🙂

  2. Susan

So happy for you! There are lots of inexpensive, nice things out there with some time and dedication and Collin’s help of course!

  3. EJ

Sweet, great job! I’ve thought about using those apps n haven’t taken the plunge but now I think I’m ready to give them a try.

  4. Vanessa

    Great job Rebekah.

  5. Heather

ANOTHER app that I just started using…Find & save. It basically like shopathome/ebates but for brick and mortar stores. I’ve already got back a good amount just in a couple weeks! So that could be another way to save. 🙂

    • Lacey

Find ‘n Save is my absolute favorite. I have earned so much from stores I was buying from anyway! Cash back at Lowe’s, Walmart, Aldi’s, and many more!

      • Heather

I love it too and can’t believe I’ve been missing out! 😉

    • Nikole

I just started this a few weeks ago and i love it!!! I already have enough to cash out

    • Kristen

Does anyone have a share code?

    • Julie B.

Have a code? I want to sign up now!

    • Jenn

      Cash back from Aldi’s? 😳 I’m in!

    Great job …

  8. Bev

Awesome job! Doesn’t it feel great to save $$$$!!!!!

  9. Trish

All the Christmas gifts for my son and hubby come from cashing out survey sites, grocery apps, savings catcher etc. I don’t work so it makes me feel good to be able to at least cover Christmas and I have for the past 3 years. I just let all my totals add up through the year and cash them out around this time a year to start Christmas shopping. On average I have over $350 after cashing everything out which also includes for my sons birthday which is 4 days after Christmas, but with hip2save deals that money goes a long way! I never would have known about these apps and survey sites if it wasn’t for Hip2save! So a huge thank you to Collin!!

  10. LindaK

I just cashed in $75 in Swagbucks gift cards in the last 2 weeks. Any time you order online be sure to order through Swagbucks, ebates, MyPoints, etc., to accumulate points. I like to get the PayPal gift cards that can easily be converted to cash.

  11. Marie

I use our Savingstar acct. like an old fashioned Christmas club acct. and don’t cash it out until holiday shopping. I have over $400 in it as of this morning from the entire year.

  12. Courtney

Im so glad there are more people out there like me! I dont have kids, but I do have friends and family I like to give gifts to and since using so many of these savings/earning sites I am able to cut so many gift costs along with household costs!

Way to go! That’s inspiring/awesome! I’ve been doing surveys on Pinecone this year and am up to $100. And everytime I receive a Target gift card with purchase I tuck it away for Christmas. 🙂

  14. mel

    WTG!!

I save up the different savings app $$ and once I hit $50, I transfer to my savings acct (well first to Paypal, then transfer that the bank!) From Dec – May, the saved money goes towards vacation. This year, I had over $300 saved. Since it was a large family trip (20 people total!) and even though we had an itenerary, there’s always one day with a spur of the moment plan. So that extra allowed my husband & oldest son to go ziplining and then me & my husband went to a fancy restaurant one night, while the kids stayed with other relatives.

Then from May – Nov, the money gets saved for Christmas. I’ve been cashing out Swagbucks for a $25 Visa eGC. Once a month, you get a $25 gc for 2200 sb instead of 2500. Then I “buy” a $10-$15 Target eGC with the Visa (and use the other $ for CVS or WM). And mid-month I usually have enough for another $25, sometimes I just cash out to Paypal. Or I’ll get a CVS or WM eGC. Before the app update, you could merge the Target eGC’s together with a plastic GC (so long as it was saved in the app), so I have over $100 that’s waiting for Black Friday! Haven’t figured out how (or if it’s possible with the update??) to merge the eGCs, so I’ve been cashing out for $10 iTunes & AMC eGCs to give to the nieces & nephews for Christmas.

    • Lindak

Thanks for the tip on the visa card from swagbucks.

  15. carrie8

I just ordered two items from Recyclebank (via twine) for my mom for Christmas.
I’ve also started writing blog articles for clients on BlogMutt and working as an expert researcher for Wonder “after hours” to bring in extra cash.
It’s amazing what options are out there!

  16. Chantel Chapman

    Great story. Thanks for sharing!

  17. harry

You should also look into the sywr program for sears and kmart, I get most of our toys for Christmas using surprise points from doorbusters and fitstudio.

    • Kimberly

I also get a lot of free SYWR surprise points from Kmart/Sears! It’s a great program! Currently I have a $15 off $30 Kmart purchase that I will use for a Christmas gift. And about $5 in surprise points :-))

  18. Angela

I’ve been working on Christmas for a while as their is a lot of kiddos in my family. Everything I’ve gotten so far as been free or very cheap after rewards or points redeemed. I’ve also been selling our unwanted clothing on eBay and that has covered every that’s been bought on sites that accept PayPal.

  19. amanda

I use bing everyday and accumulate the points and it onky takes a few mins. I have accumulated enough for 180 in amazon gc over a year.

  20. me

I just want to say do not ever apologize for the gifts you are buying. I just spent a $10 bonus Walgreens points on organic lip gloss for my sister and my mom. I used my bonus points plus the 20% off that was posted for a fantastic deal. I recently graduated from the third most expensive college in the country. I am on the tight budget to sister. It feels amazing to be able to give nice gift to your family and it mean so much more because you work so hard for it. I am very appreciative of mrs. Hip and all of her team that work so hard to help people they will never know or meet. It is beyond worth it keep on sister. Thank you to all the hip to save team who works so hard to bring us great deals and lavish minimalist expenses. They are truly a blessing in my life and in turn we get to bless our friends and family. I hope your littles enjoy their gifts and Lego set. Collin & team are one of the blessings I say thank you for every day.

That’s awesome! This is all new to me and I am learning a lot from hip2save. I browse through the app throughout the day. I just got into shopkick and it’s awesome. You get points for scanning and walking in to the stores too. You can redeem the points for gift cards etc.

    • Free123

Have you ever heard of Surveymini? It kind of similar to shopkick and works better . Let say u go shopping at Walmart it will ask you survey questions about your visit later in day or next day…then u get points or free food(popcorn amc etc) free 20 oz drink at Murphy USA),coupons for jcpenny etc….I earned enough points last month to cash in for a $10 gift card to chick fil-A(mail).It’s a awesome app ….love it.. hope this is helpful..

      • ft

Thank you I will give it a try.

    • Lindak

I get starbucks cards for my kids using Shopkick.

How does shopathome work? Do you shop through their link? Or do you submit a receipt after you make your purchase? Thanks!

    • debi

Shop through their links..also TopCashBack is a good cash back site that works the same way.

    • Mom Of 2

Shopathome is done through their website. You go to their site then click on the store you’d like after your logged in. You will be redirected to the stores page and you shop and check out like usual!

  33. Sarah

This is awesome. I don’t know what I would have done without Collin’s deals. We are having our 4th child and have saved a couple of hundred of dollars just from your posts. Thanks for all you do!!

  34. rcvmeg

I am new to couponing…how do I print coupons without installing any softwares? pls suggest..thanks

    • mel

You will need to install the software. Coupons.com is safe, have had it for years and no issues. Smartsource is another issue. I have the newest Chrome version, and it doesn’t support java (or it might be adobe?) When I try to print from Firefox, all I get is a white page. So until smartsource rolls out a version that works on Chrome, I’m outta luck with printing those offers.

    • debi

As far i know all the coupon sites have print software for u to install…just go to their sites and its easy to download and free.

    • smellyann

      You can’t.

  35. Kassandra

SWAGBUCKS IS AMAZING. I’ve made over $100 on it & have gotten tons of Amazon gift cards. It’s so worth a little bit of your time. If you’re interested in trying it out I would love it if you used my referral link! Thank you & good luck making money!!!
    https://www.swagbucks.com/refer/kassandramtz

  36. Kassandra

IBOTTA IS A GREAT WAY TO “COUPON” FROM YOUR PHONE. I always check out what groceries or things I can get cash back for before heading to the store. It’s super easy and the money adds up so fast. Worth a shot! Here is my code if anyone wants to join my team: biscomn

  37. Natoli

I have an app called find & save I love it ! You just scan your receipts and it gives you money for spending a certain amount at Costco,Cvs,Walmart,Starbucks & more ! Once you get $25 you can cash out 😆

    • Michelle

How do you scan the receipt? I’m in the app and I don’t see anyway to scan anything

      • Shopper

Click the offer, then click take photo.

    • Chris

I’ve read a couple reviews where people were asked to send in copies of their credit/debit cards to find and save – is that a requirement of this app?

      • Shopper

That’s far from truth. They pay out via PayPal, just need to link that nothing else.

        • Shopper

If sending card info is plausible, I have not ran into that.

  38. Becky

I hadn’t heard of Find & Save. Just downloaded the app. Thanks!

  39. kelly

    Great job Rebeka!

  40. Janice Gardner

    That is wonderful Rebeka!

  41. Summer

Does anyone have a find & save code they can share ?

    • JA

      Thanks!☺

  42. BB

I set up a profile on iconzoomer. Somehow I chose male instead of female and wrong birth year. Does anyone know how to edit a profile???

  43. Heather

Thanks for the tip! I just downloaded it and used your referral code.
