      Bummer.

  2. Linda

Has anyone gone to this before? Good deals below normal Costco pricing?

  3. Sam

How much is it to sign up ?

    • RA

I have the Gold Star membership which is $55. The Executive membership is $110.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

  6. RA

    Darn, nothing in Illinois.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sorry to hear that.

I have an executive membership, you get percentage of your purchases back, I go to Costco at least once a month for a 200+ shopping trip, my points this year gave me a check for $76, which I use to apply to my next years executive membership, making my membership only $34 instead of $55. If you shop Costco a lot, I’d recommend the executive $110 card for the cash back at the end of the year alone.

    • Katie

And if you don’t hit the $55 mark, they will round up to $55. Which basically means you can upgrade your membership for free every year even if you don’t shop there a ton (but like their travel services etc).

They told me that last year. I got a check for $23. Needless to say I went to cancel for a full refund and went to Sams instead. I had both memberships as each place had some specific things I would buy, but after I didn’t get the amount back they said I would when I became a member, I decided those few items weren’t worth the hassle of going to both.

I only got $33 check this year should I go tell them and have them round to $55 I even had an extra month to earn it but I also go to SAMs too bc it’s closer and has some things that are different …

When I asked about this after my first check was only $29, they said they would do it once and then I could not get the Executive membership the next year, that way you can’t get it free every year. I wonder if that’s up to the individual stores.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for sharing Keri! Great tip!

    • Brianna

I don’t even think my $23 was an accurate amount considering I had purchased 2 laptops and at least $150 a week. And I had a month left of spending as well so that is why I cancelled. No one asked why I was cancelling or tried to make it right. Figured I was getting my money back which was better than the check anyway.

      • Keri

My first year I came darn close, but I joined in the middle of the year, we decided to let it ride another year and see, it worked! We are actually saving on our membership. But for those of you that don’t regularly shop Costco at least a few hundred a month, it probably is not beneficial. But for our family it’s a definite plus, also, you can give a card to another family member, like my mom, and when they shop on it, it also adds in their totals, probably going to do that at renewal.

The Costco near me is participating but I was hoping to get a membership deal similar to past deals with groupon or living social. Not sure a $10 gc is worth it…

  9. Tabu

Where do i register? I m already a executive member of Costco. Whats the deal at this event any idea?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Basically you get to shop earlier than usual and have access to extra samples and giveaways. Be sure to check the list to see if your store is participating.

  10. Alma

    I’m not a mom :/

    • april

      me neither, alma…hopefully someday soon…:(

    • Annmarie

Working moms can’t be there at 9 on a Friday 🙁

      • Tara

I was thinking the same thing. 🙁

      • Colleen

        Amen!

  11. Rachel Harding

Not just for moms / Costco members. It’s open to everyone really. Click the link she listed and select a state to register for the event.

  12. Rachel Harding

You don’t have to be a mom or Costco member to attend. Everyone is welcome. Click the link above to register. Select your state>warehouse location! Hope to see everyone there!

  13. Shannon

Are they having special toy or other deals or just a chance to buy groceries 1 hr early? I don’t get it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Looks like they will be having samples and giveaways as well. Hope that helps!

  14. Melissa

Yes, I am wondering the same. Is a special for some reasons other than open an hour early and a deal on joining if you aren’t a member?

  15. Karine

Can my husband join or it’s only for women and kids?

  16. Jean

Wow! Their “Western” region does not include any west coast states… not in California, Oregon, or Washington. Crazy!

  17. Beckster

Ummm….the state with the largest population isn’t invited. Booooo!!!
