Am I the only one that thinks the Ugly Sweater trend has been twisted into another huge marketing opportunity? I think the initial ugly sweater ideas were fun because they were real items that were produced without the intent of being ugly. Participants would buy them, most often at thrift shops, cheap! Now, even thrift stores mark up “ugly” sweaters because they know people will buy them. Lol. I barely spend $20+ on a real sweater I wear all the time, let alone for a gag outfit. I’m sure it’s fun to participate and I’m not against people that buy them, I just think it’s funny to me that it went from thrift and bargain items to an actual production market for them, lol.

I agree! I love thrift store shopping and that was the fun of it…finding a ridiculous sweater that would be funny to wear to a party. Now people pay crazy amounts of money on something “ugly”. Haha

I agree. We used to do an ugly sweater night with our youth group several years ago but now it’s no longer an original idea so we stopped. $25 at Goodwill for an ugly sweater is obnoxious.

Lol! Yes! And most of them being sold as “ugly” sweaters are cute if you ask me.

I completely agree!! Why not buy something for a few dollars at the thrift store, and use the rest to buy something for those less fortunate… You know, the people that can’t afford to give their children a good Christmas and would happily wear an “ugly” Christmas sweater for warmth.

The sweaters people buy these days that are new “ugly” sweaters are so lame. The only funny ones are from the thrift store that people wore 20 years ago, before ugly sweaters existed, lol.

Not really sure how/ why but I got an additional $5.80 off my order so I was able to snag a juniors sweater for about $18 total. It said “student savings” and was automatically applied when i went to checkout. I’m assuming it’s because I have amazon student?! Either way I was very happy to get $11.60 off a sweater I was going to purchase anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh awesome! So glad you could grab the extra savings Kim!
