Easy Cherry Danish Recipe
Adapted from BakingBytes.com
1 package flaky biscuits (I used Pillsbury Grands)
1/4 cup sugar
8 oz bar of cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon almond extract (can also substitute Vanilla)
21 oz. can of cherry pie filling
small amount of milk & powdered sugar for drizzle
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together cream cheese, almond extract and sugar and set aside. Using a serrated edge knife, carefully slice each biscuit in half so there will be 16 total slices. Place biscuits on a large baking sheet lined with a non stick baking mat or parchment paper. Use a small glass or spice container dipped in flour to indent the middle of each biscuit. Spread cream cheese on each biscuit and then add pie filling making sure to include a few cherries on top. Bake for about 12-15 minutes.
While the biscuits are baking, mix 3 tablespoons or so of powdered sugar and a tiny bit of milk in a small dish. If the mixture is too thin, add more powdered sugar until you get a smooth icing to drizzle. Take Danish out of oven, let cool, and drizzle your icing over each roll. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
NOTE: You will likely have extra pie filling so consider buying another package of rolls and doubling the cream cheese mixture to make a double batch!
