  I think it all depends on the child. My son was completely obsessed with Thomas until he was 4 and then wasn’t interested anymore. He’s 8 now. We have a whole closet full of trains, tracks, and sets.

  It depends on the boy. My son had outgrown Thomas by age 6 in favor of Legos, Hot Wheels, Star Wars and Avengers. If you know the 6-year-old likes Thomas then go for it, otherwise I’d suggest looking at the Hot Wheels sets that Kohls has on sale.    I just scored this. Thank you. I had to call the company for something and he said the free shipping code is good all month for card holders. He did say it was because I was a valuable member but really I haven’t used this card in a very long time. So try using the card and code each time.

   This is a really nice Thomas set. I bought several last year for Christmas when my son was 3. He’s 4 now but can easily put this together. The “mountain” ones with jumps and bridges are harder and need an adult to make sure they are set up and run smoothly. This with some of the other flat track sets would be a great for preschoolers.
