Target Shoppers! Just a heads up that this Sunday, December 20th only, Target AND Target.com will be offering 10% off Target gift cards (up to a $30 discount)! Please note that the cards you purchase will be activated on December 21st at 10AM CST.
If you’re purchasing other items at Target too, remember that Target REDcard holders can save an extra 5% off your entire purchase. BUT note that you cannot get an extra 5% off when purchasing these Target gift cards.

I have used Target gift cards to buy Target gift cards in the past, so it does work–I just don’t know if they’ll let you do it for this particular promotion. I guess we can try it and see.
I was able to use $5 gift cards from store promotions (the buy 4, get $5 gift card deals, etc.) to purchase a gift card during last years similar promotion. I just wanted to only have 1 card in my wallet so it was nice.
You won’t get 5% off Target gift card purchases. Many of the others are considered entertainment cards and you would on those. Hope that helps.

If u ever want to consolidate all ur $5 gc at target, go to customer service. I had about 10 and was doing a return. The girl noticed and asked if i wanted them on one card. I said yes. It took her just a few minutes. So nice!

Are you sure I’ll save 5% with Target Red card? It never gave me any discount on gift cards, though I always buy with my RED card!
I bought gift cards the other day from target and used my red card and it deducted 5%.
No, I do not think you get the Redcard discount on GC purchases as it is not a true merchandise sale. Which is also why you do not pay sales tax on GCs. Only at the time of sale/ redemption and only on the amount after using the GCs.

I just bought a 25 dollar target gift card today and used my target debit card and it did not deduct 5% off.

You can only receive 5% off NON-Target gift cards when you pay with your REDcard. I do this year-round to purchase SW Air & Disney gift cards for vacation and iTunes, Olive Garden & Texas Roadhouse gift cards.
If you sign up for the Pharmacy Rewards program, you’ll receive a 5% off coupon after every 10 prescriptions filled. The coupon can be combined with the REDcard 5% for 10% off your total purchase (except Target gift cards). This is how I pay for Disney World each year 🙂
I work at Target, and know for a fact you will not get your 5% off when buying a gift card. I’ve had many people try it.

Gift cards are final sales. CS might work with you to maybe do a missed coupon by manually figuring the discount to refund. Good luck.

I’ve returned gift cards to Target. The CSR said they accept them as returns as long as they haven’t been used at all. Fandango are the only ones that have us trouble.

The extra 5% off with Redcard doesn’t work on Target gift cards. It does work with other gift cards, which are classified as entertainment cards.

The extra 5% redcard discount only applies to gift cards OTHER than Target ones. It will not give you an additional 5% off Target cards, but will on all other ones (chick fil a, regal, etc). 🙂

Then you’re really only getting an extra 5% off then. If I use my redcard at checkout at Target for an everyday purchase, I get 5% off my purchase, however, if you buy these target GF’s while you get 10% off, you’re only gaining 5%…good, but only 5% more since you don’t get the additional 5% when BUYING with your redcard. Am I right?

Nope. You get 10% off when buying the gc. When you go to pay with that gift card, use your red card too and save an additional 5%. So use your red card to pay some and the rest use the gc for 10+5. Make sense?
You only get the 5% on the amount that actually goes on the red card. My daughter had a gift card to use for half of our purchase and I used my red card as well and it didn’t take 5% off the full purchase.

I notice that when I check out on target.com as a redcard member it will take the 5% even if I am paying with gc. That way I am saving 5 AND 10%. Again, online order only. Pick up in store works too.

Yes, I’ve done that when buying Disney GC online. If you’ve entered your red card info you can change the payment method to Target GC and still get the 5% discount.
I like to use my Target GC”s on pharmacy prescriptions since the red card does not give you the 5% discount on prescriptions. So this deal would be great for that!

You do NOT get 5% off the purchase of regular target gc with your redcard. If you buy a gc with a bunch of stuff, the 5% only comes off the STUFF, not the gc. This is a good deal…and for those that already bought gc as gifts, use them to buy new ones Sunday!
Anyone else have issues getting their comments to consistently post? I swear sometimes they take and sometimes they don’t……is there someone on the other end approving them or deleting them?
I already bought almost $250 in go this year for gifts! I brought them to customer service yesterday. They consolidated them and I’ll be able to use the one go to re-purchase during this promotion. I’ll have to remember this for next year and wait to buy my gc’s until last minute. Even though I HATE last minute shopping!
You can get a 5% discount buying Disney gift cards on line. Also can get additional if you go through Raise. We just went to Disney and I purchased $400 in gift cards for a reduced cost.
