Thanks!! I love world market coffee! Fyi- if you order a package of 6 bags online and use a free bag of coffee coupon you earned as a member, the coupon takes off the max value of $8.99(not just the price of a bag).

      Cool! Thanks for sharing Rebekah!

Any suggestions on which coffee to try? TIA

Can you buy 6 in on transaction and get 2 free coffees?

Also, there was a 10% off coupon in this week’s newspaper.

If you are referring to ordering online, you can only use one free coffee code per order. Which really stinks since you have to pay shipping on each order. I usually wait till the 50% off coffee sale is happening to make it worth my while.

If you like to explore coffee varietals, here are my suggestions as I buy a lot of WM coffee. First, get whole beans not pre-ground. Coffee starts losing flavor as soon as it’s ground, so you want to grind it as you are ready to use it to get the best flavor. Check expiration dates too.

The Fair Trade Costa Rica Tarrazu (med/dark roast) is very good. It would be my suggestion for someone who’s not interested in trying anything “weird” and just wants a good cup of coffee. The medium roast is likely to have broad appeal, and it’s “fair traded” so it’s you can feel a little better about it. The beans are high enough quality to have interesting flavor. The Estate Guatamalan was far and away the best coffee they sold IMHO, but it disappeared from their shelves and hasn’t been in stock for at least a year.

If you want to try something a little more complex and explore different tastes, I personally love the wild, fruity notes of African beans. They’re very different. Tanzanian Peaberry is what I often buy (Peaberries are one of the world’s truly great coffees). It’s a little higher priced and higher quality than Kenyan AA, but the Kenyan is less complex if you aren’t brave (less fruitiness, cheaper beans). African beans may not appeal to people used to flatter, cheaper coffee though.

If you like rich, earthy tones in your coffee, the Sumatra or Moka Java would be the way to go. They have some similarities and are both fairly complex. Both are an acquired taste, and may not be everyone’s taste. Moka Java is kind of bittersweet-chocolatey. (It has no actual chocolate in it! I’m talking about natural, earthy undertones.) Both are heavier to me than the brighter African or Latin American coffees. I like them less than African beans, but that’s very personal to me.

Thanks for such helpful feedback Maggie!
