Nice! I did not see any I liked on sale when I needed one. Now I don’t need one anymore since my son started to walk by him self at 7 months :). Good luck to other parents! 🙂

Wow!! Mine just started to sit up on her own and will be crawling any day!

Oh my gosh, wow! They grow soooo fast!

For some reason my pediatrician said to avoid walkers…and use jumparoo instead.

    • Stephanie

Mine did as well! No walkers!!!

    • Sam

Really? I wonder why? I never thought to ask the pediatrician if the walker is okay? My 7 month old uses one.

I heard it was because of a higher rate of injuries in a walker. They can get to things quickly that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access, especially stairways and things like tablecloths or towels where they can pull things down on top of them and get hurt. My pediatrician said it’s easy to put them in a walker and get distracted and they are into something and hurt in the blink of an eye.

So the whole reason behind it is not about safety…it actually has been studied for decades and recently concluded that walkers promote wrongful development. They strengthen lower muscles instead if the hips and upper muscles which are needed for walking. Also babies put solely in walkers dont learn to crawl stand etc at the same rate (some not at all) as others and these developmental milestones are fundamentals.

Yeah, my baby’s pediatrician said the same thing as well. She said there have been head injuries associated with babies bumping into stuff when walking around in baby walkers.

All of my kids used walkers. I do think there is more risk associated with walkers if you don’t keep your baby in sight at all times just like anything else. If you have the area you are in baby proofed I think they are generally safe.

I agree. My 3 kids all used them and we’re fine

My first didn’t use one but loved that jump thing, my second never liked it and we got a walker for playing outside in the driveway when big bro was triking, etc. he loved it although admittedly we didn’t use it a ton. I figure they’re all bad if you use them all of the time- a grandparent also had one and it was a super useful highchair substitute during family meals- 1/3 the price and easier to store.

Ours had a lock so you could make it stationary. It was great for keeping the kids entertained when I would make dinner.
