They just cut off our “free cable” channels, I hope this works!

  2. Ana

Check to see what stations are close to you first. Because some locations like here in emporia ks only get one weak channel. When I use to live in Colorado we had 13 channels .

    • Tar alton

      How do you check?

    • Gina

We literally get nothing here- they went all digital and my current antenna is picking up nothing. I am super hopeful this one will work better, but I just looked on one of these links and it said my area will get nothing with an antenna.. booo

  3. Irene

Our cable servicer went all digital. Will this still work?

    • Nicole

      Yes.

    • Jim

Yes, this is all over the air, just plug into back of your tv and scan for channels.

    • Liz

Your cable provider has nothing to with antennas or the OTA (over-the-air) channels available in your area. The cable companies don’t want you to know that you can receive all the local channels for free! I was able to cancel Comcast cable when I got my antenna. Like Jim said, it’s all over the air and you just simply plug the antenna into your tv directly then using your remote to “scan” for channels.

Right before I cancelled my cable, I dropped down to the super basic Comcast package for 19.99. Their pitch was “since you only will receive basic channels, we give you HBO for free!”. I didn’t realize until I received my antenna, that they weren’t giving me anything for “free”. I could receive ALL of the basic channels for free so Comcast was essentially charging me for HBO!!!

The OTA channels actually have a better picture than they did through Comcast on my tv. They are pure HD, digital channels.

    Do these really work

    • Chelsey

Yes they do! I bought one last time it was posted and was shocked when my husband scanned for channels and we have 36! You can check the link posted above to see how many channels you will get in your area!

    • Oshea

Yes. In my area, you get abc, nbc, pbs, a few movie channels like bounce, and a few Spanish channels.

    • Liz

Yes – the only reason they wouldn’t “work” is if for, some reason, you couldn’t receive the signals due to being in a valley or something. I receive around 20 channels for free with my antenna. I completely cut cable using my antenna for OTA, local channels (I get NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CW, etc) and Sling TV for “cable” channels (AMC, HGTV, Food Network, etc.). Best decision I ever made!! Instead of paying Comcast $140+/month; I pay $69.99 for internet and $19.99/month for Sling.

I suggest using this website – AntennaRecomendations.com – to check and see which channels you should receive OTA (over-the-air) via antenna. If you are in a populated area, the above antenna has a 35 mile range, which means you should receive a lot of channels.

Here is an article on how to “cut the cord” that is SUPER helpful – https://cordcuttersnews.com/cord-cutting-101-a-beginners-guide-to-cord-cutting/

Thanks so much for this info!!! ๐Ÿ˜

  5. Mandy

Thanks for all of this information! I am tired of the cable bills

    • Liz

I HIGHLY recommend Sling TV which starts at only $19.99/month. I have an antenna and a Roku 2 then, Amazon Prime for $99/year, Netflix for $7.99/month, and Hulu for $7.99/month, which roughly equals $45/month compared to Comcast’s $85/month cable plus $70/month for internet (I did keep my internet through them). So I now pay about $115/month, rather than $160+, for literally 10x as many options and I can cancel whatever I want, whenever I want. I also use Vudu (pay as you go) for new release movies and tv shows that aren’t on Hulu. Cord cutting was definitely the right choice for my household!

You’re not going to believe the timing of this… I literally cut the cord from AT&T Uverse just this morning and was going to start looking around for an antenna. The timing of this is perfect! Thanks!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad you can grab this deal! YW!

We don’t have this particular one, but we’ve been using a similar one (that works better for our area) for 2 years and we get all major channels. We also get different channels in different rooms of our house. ๐Ÿ™‚ No complaints and we never plan on going back to cable!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  8. paintfrog

Picked one up. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope the 35 mile range will be good enough.

  9. denise

    got one..thanks collin

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Denise!

Your reception depends on how far your home is from the station. We cut the cord six years ago and tried almost every style and brand of antenna. Taller rabbit ear antennas worked better than any suction flat-panel antenna, for us. Reception will depend on where you place the antenna (the higher the better), tree interference, and even cloud coverage. We got the basic abc, cbs, nbc, which had sub-channels included. PBS would only come in during the autumn- go figure. We live about 30 miles from the transmitters.
Run a scan on your tv several times with the antenna in different positions. HTH

  11. Sherry

It doesn’t work if you have obstructions. Such as tree-lines, hills or any obstruction blocking the frequency.

  12. Bethany

Hi there, how do I choose the option for free no rush shipping? I do not see it ๐Ÿ™

  13. Kim

Just an idea, my husband hooked up our antenna through our existing cable wires since we don’t need them for cable. We put it outside on top of our covered patio and we get great reception.

  14. Edwin

Edwin i like to no how well does it work

In addition to the $7 discount off their sale price of $16.99 I used $7.25 of my Amex points, so my total came out to $2.74 with free ship & no sales tax! I earlier cut my cable bill & don’t watch tv anymore, so this will save me $ but still allow me to watch a little bit of broadcast channel television when I feel like it. TY Collin!

I got my antenna in the mail today. I placed it as high as I could near my window. I am able to pick up 4 digital channels. I’ll have to play around with it, but I’m thinking I might need a 50 mile instead of 35. I’ll keep this one for now, because 4 channels is better than nothing. ๐Ÿ™‚
