We just returned from a trip to Disney. We took 5×7 cardstock, attached to a small clipboard for the characters to sign. Then I took pics of the autographs and uploaded them into the shutterfly photobook I made of the trip. This way I was able to overlap them onto the photo of the kiddos with the characters. It made for a unique photo/autograph book that also had our other pictures from the trip.

Awesome idea Lisa! Thanks for sharing!

Speaking of autograph books. If you go to the “disboards”website there are lots of free character autograph pages. I put two on a page in a medium sized photo book from shutterfly (look for a deal). I made some generic pages for the back and because I’m OCD I alphabetized them. Made it easier to find them too. Turned out great, got lots of compliments. Going in June!😊

Maybe a silly question but how much can a Disney trip run? When we were kids it was totally out of the question but now we have our own little princess, I’m temped to look into it. I’m just curious the range you all have spent. TIA!

My husband, 3 yr old child and I went for New Years. Arrived Thursday afternoon and left Tuesday morning. $2500 included mid range resort (which in my opinion was fantastic) and 5 days of tickets. $900 for 3 plane tickets because we bought them on Christmas. And then spent another $800-900 while we were there. If we had the liberty of booking the trip earlier we could’ve saved a ton on the plane tickets. Still don’t regret it… DW was the best trip ever!

Wow, thanks everyone! There is lots of info here…thanks so much!

Hundreds to thousands depending on the experience! Hotels range from $100-$500/night, tickets costs $100+/person/day, meals range from $12-$50/meal/person. I live 2 hours from Disney World. We have annual passes. My cousin is coming down with her family for a 1.5 week vacation and said that for what she has paid, she could have had a new kitchen installed. Hope that puts things in perspective.

There’s lots of tips on pintrest. 2 years ago we spent $5,000 including meal plan, hotel (all star resort) and we drove from texas. We were 2 adults, 3 children (twins under 3 so we didn’t have to pay for their tickets to get into the park) I think you can definitely plan on a buget.

Family of 3 magic your way package (value hotel (art of animation), 2 day tickets, airfare from nyc, and dining plan) ran us $2k, and a couple hundred in voice it’s

    • Lisa

We went in March and spent around $3000 for 4 of us. This included: plane, hotel (2 nights), meals (one character dining), tickets (3 days) and car rental.

      • Caryn

Can I ask where you stayed – thinking next March for us 😀

        • Jo

We stayed at one of the best western just across the street. There are two but it was the closer of the two and the cheapest. We called several hotels and this was the best deal but I’m sure it can vary.

    • Liz

We drive to Disneyland & stay at at a Disney property. It’s easily $1000-1500/day for us (hotel, park tickets, meals). It really is outrageous. Family of 4.

We went January 2016 with a 3 year old and 10 month old. We booked through Costco and scored a free ride picture and free lanyards. We stayed at a good neighbor suite (loved it) called Staybridge Inn and it had free breakfast and parking. We were there for 4 days and did 1 park per day tickets because park hopping is too much with the little ones. We drove there because we live in CA. We used the ART (Anaheim Regional Transit) while there. It picked up every 20 mins outside our hotel and drops you off right at the gate. We packed tons of snacks but still bought some food in the park and did character dining. Our trip was around $1800 for the hotel, park tickets, and ART tickets. We only spent around $500 on food and souveniers during our 4 days. I also signed up for a Disney credit card and got a $200 statement credit, so it dropped the cost down even more. I’m now using my credit card for all purchases and earning Disney dollars we can use on our next trip 🙂

Btw, what is the best site to book? Costco has been the best that I can find, but should I be checking somewhere else?

    • Julie

Disney isn’t one to offer deals besides free dining – which is often offered when rooms aren’t being discounted. If you can go during non-peak times that’s the best way to save (early January, early February, sept or early October). Dining is only worth it if you actually use it. As a family of four we often don’t – we share meals and have groceries delivered to the hotel through Garden Grocer, bringing our own snacks daily to the park. The exception is if you plan to character dine a lot, then get the plan. If you stay a long time, tickets get cheaper the more days you stay. Imo it’s cheaper to go for longer period of time than to do park hoppers. My friend is a Disney agent and books trips, including mine (and I was hesitant bc I’m very anal about a cheap trip, but she finds the same prices I do). If you want want me to hook you up with her, email me Julie1788 @ Verizon .net

My hubby got 2 tickets for just him and our oldest to go down to Disney world on Tuesday morning, and fly back Wednesday night$ 570 for everything. $370 for flight, hotel, and car rental, $200 for two tickets. Southwest airlines had better deals than any other travel site.

  6. Diane

I would consider waiting until your little princess is at least 6 years old. There are several ways to save money on a Disney trip. Information on room rates and ticket prices are easy to find. I recently was doing some research to help a friend plan a trip for her boys. Her budget is $3,000 for 3 plus a baby for 5 nights. They are driving and only eating out once each day and bringing the rest of their food.
