I have had several friends post this question on Facebook and they always get lots of positive response about both brands. I don’t think you can go wrong! Personally we have a Blendtec and it is awesome and has lasted for years. The only thing I don’t like is how loud they are.

We bought a BlendTec from Costco with our tax rebate last year. We LOVED it and used it almost daily for smoothies. It seemed to get “looser” and not as sturdy as time went on, and last week, the motor burned out(smoke/fire!). Luckily, we bought it just under a year ago, so Costco gave us a full refund!!!
Our Costco doesn’t carry BT any more, so we bought a Vitamix and we love it even more than the BT. Vitamix is quieter, sturdier, has a blending stir thingy, and seems more powerful.
Just my opinion! 🙂

Blendtec machines are used in many commercial applications (coffee shops, smoothie shops, etc.) They are OUTSTANDING. I think you can’t go wrong with either Vitamix or Blendtec — get whichever one is the best deal. If you consume a lot of smoothies (or even soup), you won’t regret it.
The Blendtec CS is great too — our first one had a problem in the warranty period, and with one phone call, they replaced it immediately, and sent us a prepaid shipping label to cover return-shipping on the old unit. We were very impressed by their CS.
