PuffsAs I mentioned here, through May 1st, Dollar General is offering up an EXTRA 50% off select Clearance prices! Check out what a couple Hip2Savers are spotting at their stores…

FROM, KATIE:

Hi! I just wanted to say thanks for the heads up about the 50% sale at Dollar General! As a single mom of three, I’m on a really strict budget. I usually buy clothes a year ahead when they go on super sale & stock up as much as I can. Plus, cheap conditioner is always good to mix with water as a hair detangler for little ones & their baby dolls. 🙂 Here’s some stuff that I got…

Keychains: $0.15 each
My Little Pony Dolls: $2.62 each
20 cnt Alka-Seltzer Cold Meds: $0.50! ($1 off peelie)
Earings: $0.25
Cookies: $0.93 each
Hairbows: $0.75
Clothes: $0.50 each
Suave Conditioner: $0.55
Softsoap Body Wash: $1.35
DG Conditioner: $1.30
White Rain Conditioner: $0.37
Doc Coloring Book: $1.12
Dark & Lovely: $2

FROM, JOANN:

Hi Collin! I just went to Dollar General and some clearance was marked down 25% and then an additional 50% came off that price. I was able to get Cascade for $1.15 (regularly $3.25) and other great deals on Finish packs, Tide, Men’s Irish body wash, numerous party supplies and much more!! Wanted to pass the great deals along. Thanks for all you do!

(Thanks, Katie & JoAnn!)

I scored boots rain boots and black sequined boots for $1each!! They were on clearance but not marked.

  2. Casey

Be careful though because I went in to get some items on clearance and was told it was only certain colored clearance tags!

I always have them check my stuff before I get to checkout. But usually the store will move most included clearance stuff to the front so it’s easy to find. I got 48 oz Tide for $0.47 (after $2 coupon), 16ct Gain Flings for free (after $2 coupon), tons of clothes for $0.50, coloring books for $0.75, stickers for $0.37…. lots of great deals! Wish I had time to look around longer but that’s okay. I’m happy with my findings.

My next question was can I use coupons there… Awesome!

        • GA

Yup! I just went and got 2 Herbal Essence shampoo $0.12 after $3/2 digital coupon, Tena pads $0.25 after $2 coupon, and U by Kotex pads $0.45 after $1 printable coupon. 🙂

  3. Ada

I scored some ice breakers gum for 1 cent! It was just one box, and I am going to check the expiration/manufacturing date…but it was a nice surprise! I got some platex tampons for $1 too(I think they were normally $3-5)!

  4. Amy

Oh, I’m gonna go check it out now. Thanks for the reminder!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Amy!

The alka seltzer was tagged at my store but it rung up regular price, $6. I really needed it. The manager took the clearance sign down and gave it to me for $2.25 and there were $1.00 coupons on two of the boxes bringing the price down to $1.25. Not too bad.

There was really nothing else at two of the stores I went to. So sad when I look at what others were able to get.

  6. Libby

I got a set of reusable shopping cart grocery bags – the kind that slide into the sides of the cart – for under $5!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great score Libby!

  7. Monalisa

Well I hit it big too. Toothbrushes, laundry detergent, shoe inserts, hairspray, lotion, stickers, play toaster, ( also had a play iron, but who irons these days??) bras, Hanes undies for adults and children, fabric storage containers, mouthwash, play jewelry set, play doctor set, both .34, Kleenex, dish scrubber, and more!

    • GA

The play toaster was on clearance at your store?! Dang! I’ve been wanting that but didn’t want to spend $6 for it. Lol.

  8. Katie

The alka selzer was tagged but rang up normal $6 at my store as well. I asked super nicely about it to the cashier so she rang it for the 75% price of $1.50 then used the peelie coupon making it $0.50! 🙂

  9. Dorothy

They had a good selection compared to the last time they had this sale. They even had snow boots for $0.50.

I also scored too at mine. spent 48.00 and got a whole counter filled with stuff to sort out .some I am sending in a box to my grandkids in colorado. nearest dollar general is in denver. and my daughter knows I get the best deals.
got several pack of hanes underwear ,generic dove soap, generic fiber brownies, russel stover sugar free candies, toys, mouthwashes, a as seen on tv dump cake cookbook. they had a bunch. already had two only paid 3.75 and someone mention the play toasters and irons. they had tons. I live in a town of 5000. I posted it in our group I lead. so everyone went and got good deals. going back to morrow to see whats left. I also help families here since lot of farm workers. even stuff for 4th of july. have a great sunday

  11. emma

they had nothing in my store besides school supplies. and then buy one get one half off on clothes and shoes. you guys are lucky to score these deals.

  12. JA

I got a shirt and a two pack of gloves for 50 cents apiece. Didn’t have a ton of time and most things didn’t have price tags.

  13. Judy Trac

I see so many deals but can’t buy bc I’m in pharmacy school

  14. April

I got a Batman Two Face figure for my son ($2.25), Crest Kids Hello Kitty toothpaste ($0.92), Three bottles of Olay lotion ($1.87 each), two boxes of Stayfree pads ($1.35), one box of Kotex pads ($1.45), 3 pk of newborn baby bodysuits ($2.25), and a giant Shopkin coloring book ($1.35). My store had it all lined up on display in the front. So for a quick trip without coupons, you really can’t beat those prices! I’m tempted to go back again today and see if I missed anything.
