off topic!! I’ve a 6.5 month old baby.(born end of oct).18lbs and 25”. just started on solid foods..(rice and oat meal cereal are done). I need to start on veggies and fruits from tomorrow. Please advise me, if it is better to make home made food or to buy. if buying whats the best place to buy, i mean where would it be reasonable. If home made, do i need to buy any appliances … and what would be the best place to buy them. is there a good website for babies that i can refer to.This is the only forum i’m subscribed to.. i’m new to this country. so posting this question here. Thanks everyone for all the tips advises deals and comments.. I’m saving lot of money because of Hip2Save. Collin, Special thank to you and your team for all the hard work.

Making your own baby food is super easy. In my opinion the only thing you need is a blender. I usually steam or cook the veggie or certain fruits, then stick in a blender with a little water or breastmilk and purée. When just starting out make sure there is no chunks left, since baby doesn’t know how to chew yet. You can also take bananas and just mash them up. Freeze your purée in an ice cube tray, and thaw one or two at a time depending on how much baby actually eats. The glass jars baby food comes in are my favorite for storing food but then you have to buy them. Baby food has no preservatives so they are very healthy but for what it is I feel like it is much cheaper to make your own.

Thank you so much. This helps

It just depends on what you’re looking for. No it’s not hard to make your own baby food, but it can be time consuming. At the end of the day, it’s about what will be the easiest for you, your family, and your life. We do a combo of homemade and store bought because sometimes life gets in the way and as much as I want to make my own baby food, I also have a full time job and other responsibilities. As long as baby eats – you’re doing great.

We made ours and just used a wand/stick blender, so if you have any kind of blender that should be all you need. Agreed with other poster. If you are already cooking, making baby food is a quite easy, but it’s all about what is best for your family.

If you watch for coupons you can get the store ones for fairly cheap, I’ve done a lil home making but the time and work involved is a lot for me, I’d rather just open a store bought one and go, plus spend that extra time playing with my kid rather than making food…..so depends on your life and activities too, lol, so time and energy verses a few more cents….you choose. No child has ever been hurt by eating store bought verses home made, so I think you just do what works for you and your family! 🙂

I have this and I love it!! As an idea, we also use this to block the stairs to the second floor. No gate needed! Multifunctional! 🙂
