My daughter has the Barbie Shakespeare pole and caught a 12 and 1/4 inch Bluegill, only 1/2 inch off the state record with her pole! Granted, the first one we got her was junk and broke before we even fished, but the 2nd one (same brand, same pole and character) has held up for 3 years. We fish quite a bit and also have a pond in our yard we fish out of just for fun.

that is awesome – we have a blast watching our 3 year old catching 4″ bluegills on her Barbie pole … a 12 1/4″ fish must have been unbelievable!

That’s so cool! Thanks for sharing Katie! Glad to hear how well the second one has held up And that it has caught some great fish! 🙂

Great deal. We just bought my 3.5 y/o a Mickey Mouse Shakespeare one from Bass Pro for $14.99 last week. It looks like the same model just different design. We caught some bass on it this weekend.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback Heidi!

Quality-wise, these can be hit or miss. I tried fishing with one over the weekend just for fun and it was frustrating. The button doesn’t always release the line and when you try to cast it comes right back at you. But my daughter didn’t have that problem with hers.

Thanks so much for the honest review! Good to know!
