Anyone have opinions on starting with a Mia 2 or a Mia 1 – having never used this type of device before?

    • errr

I bought a Mia 2 for me and both of my sisters ~ we are aged 35, 39, and 45. I bought it for me because I have blackheads on my T-zone. No matter what I do, I can’t get rid of them. If I squeeze them out, or use Biore or whatever, my pores just fill back up. My pores stay the same size, too. I was hoping that the Clarisonic would help me keep my pores cleaner. To be honest, I haven’t used it on a regular basis, mostly due to laziness. However, the 5 or so times that I HAVE used it, I feel good. I haven’t used it long enough/regularly enough to make any comments about it performance. My sisters, however, use it on a regular basis and they LOVE it. Everyone has the sensitive skin brush. Both sisters have dry, sensitive skin. One has rosecea (sp?). They say the clarisonic leaves their skin soft and gives them a nice, fresh healthy-looking glow. They say it is hands down better than washing with just their hands. They use an Olay cleanser with the clarisonic. Everyone’s Mia 2 was about $79 because I was able to get them on sale.

‘blackheads’ that don’t dissappear aren’t blackheads, rather sebaceous filments..You can Google the differences, it’s just natural oil blockage that will remain. Strips can actually harm the skin, broken capillaries as they don’t get down deep.

Thank you for all the detailed information. I love that there are so many helpful people here at Hip2Save!

The difference in the Mia 1 and Mia 2 are the speeds. Mia 1 only has 1 speed and the Mia 2 has 2 speeds. I love mine!

      • Jennifer

        Thank you!

I believe the difference in the 2 models is with the Mia 2 there are 2 speed settings (universal and sensitive) and the Mia 1 only has the 1 speed (universal speed).
I say go with the Mia 1 if you don’t need the sensitive speed setting. I have the Mia 2 and only ever use the universal speed setting…
But this is a good deal for either one! I recommend the Mia either way. I am in my 40’s and got this about 3 months ago. I have always had “problem” skin. Adult acne, rough, bumpy skin etc. Since getting the mia my skin has improved dramatically!!! I cleanse daily with Philosophy Purity. I keep it in my shower & it is part of my morning routine. My acne has cleared up, now I only get occasional breakout. My skin is smoooooothhh!!! And it is much clearer and brighter.
      HTH!

Thank you for all the information. This is great!

One thing to pay attention to when using the Clarisonic is to KEEP IT CLEAN! I am 40 and have been blessed with great skin and no acne. However, after 3 months of using the Clarisonic morning and night (and I loved it in the beginning, by the way), I developed Perioral Dermatitis. This is a very common rash that itches like mad and leaves these huge red blotchy areas on your skin that look like acne. It doesn’t go away on it’s own either. After 2 months on antibiotics, the rash is now healed, but I will never again use a Clarisonic since this is what caused it to happen to me in the first place.

If my house was on fire, I’d grab my Kitchenaid mixer, Microplane, and my Clarasonic!!!! I bought it because I figured it was cheaper than getting regular facials. They have several brush heads for all skin types. I use it approximately 3 to 4 times a week. I’ve never had any problems and it keeps a charge to 2 weeks. $89 is a GOOD price ( I paid more ).

  4. Christie

Thanks! My old one died after my preteen son started using it! So got us both one! FYI, the Kate Somerville one comes with more products than the others.

    • Kimber

True, but it doesn’t come with the extra brush head.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Christie!

To all the expert ladies out there, can you share how you use the clarasonic? Do you use a cleanser and brush your face with it? How often do you have to do it? I am interested on it but clueless at the same time.

    • Susan S.

I use mine daily, in the AM in the shower. (I am lazy and don’t wash my face at night…bad I know lol).
I wet my face, apply cleanser directly to the brush head and turn on (I use purity). The clarisonic will “buzz” at intervals telling you when to switch zones on your face. Start with forehead, on to t-zone and chin. Then left check then right cheek. Just place the clarisonic on your face, do not apply pressure and move around each area. The clarisonic will do all the work. It will turn off by itself when it is done after 1 min.
I will turn on again and then do my neck & chest area (optional).
If you have very sensitive skin, you may only want to use a couple times a week. I don’t have sensitive skin so I use daily (could do it morning & night if I wasn’t lazy lol).
There are probably videos on their website and on youtube if you need visuals. But it’s pretty easy to use.
      HTH!

Love mine. I have the Mia 2 but only use the universal speed so going forward would not hesitate to buy the Mia 1. Use it morning (In the shower) and at night. Love that it’s waterproof, keeps my skin in wonderful condition and clean. I do get monthly facials and the esthician notices how good my skin is. I highly recommend buying AND using it daily. Don’t put pressure on it when using, let the unit do the work.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for such helpful feedback Kim! Good to know!
