i think it was bogus..a scam to get email addresses..i and everyone i know who signed up and got an email saying look for your target gift card then got an email saying all the winners have been notified..winners? like a contest? that wasnt what they 1st said..it was sign up get cared..now they are back peddling to it was a contest and winners have been told..

    • Hope

      Same here

    • Paige

I agree! I got the same email that everyone else got. I think they just kind of tricked people into giving their emails. After they got your email, they said a gift card would be emailed. There was no mention of a contest or even a “maybe”. They said they would give something and they did not.

If you click the confirm email link again, it still says the same thing.
“Check your email shortly for your gift card!” πŸ˜’

This deception really pisses me off. I emailed them the following:

You lied about giving a target gift card for email sign up today, now pretending it was a contest. This is against the law, mean spirited, and low down. I will never buy your products and will tell Target of your fraud and urge them to no longer sell your products in their stores. How dare you?

Feel free to copy and send to let them know deception isnt how to garner new customers.

    • Donna

Good for you! Thanks for telling them what we’re all thinking!!

    • Molly Swanson

Good for you. I, too, believe this was a scam. I’m going to copy and paste your email and send it to them but I’m also planning to tell them that I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I’m also going to remind them that if this was a contest with “winners” then, by law, they are required to compile a list of winners for the public to see.

  4. Tabitha

Wow, what a bummer. I wonder if anyone actually “won” a card? How disappointing.

  5. Jessica

I confirmed and now they not giving to me. What liars they are.

In my opinion, this looks like either an illegal sweepstakes or an illegal contest (possibly a contest since some consideration was involved – you had to sign up for their newsletter). There were not any Official Rules on the sign up page nor a link to Official Rules on the sign up page. Official Rules must be readily accessible to anyone who wants to enter. In fact, I don’t think that any of us knew that it was a contest or sweepstakes until we received the email stating that there were winners.
FYI – If you think you’ve been targeted by a prize scam, report it to the FTC.
    You also can contact your:

    local consumer protection office
local media’s call for action lines

    • JaCinda

I agree with your opinion Peabud. It angers me that there has been no other response from this company regarding this fiasco, with the exception of them deleting visitor posts off their facebook page. They know we feel scammed and they just try to hide from it. If they would have just been honest instead of pretending it was a sweepstakes after the fact.

Here is the link to their US Facebook page, it is had to find the right one. Please review them folks!

      • Hilary

Thanks for the link. I gave them a 1 star review. Wish 0 was an option.

      • Kristina

Thanks for the link. EVERYONE should rate them!

      • dealhousewife

Thanks for the link! I couldn’t find the right page… πŸ˜› I “reviewed” them! and left a comment, tagging Target!

  8. Candi

I thought it had worked and I signed up on time. Said I would receive email for gc shortly. Well I got the email but said that due to overwhelming response I didn’t get one after all. πŸ™

  9. jan

I wonder Collin did this work for you??πŸ˜‰

  10. Cynthia Funk

I clicked on the response email and got a virus on my android phone. Please beware, everybody.

    • jenny

Yes!!! My laptop has started suddebly going crazy and i wonder if this is why, ugh!! Gah my husband is gonna kill me.

    • M

What response email?? 😨 better add these to spam!

  11. amy

five emails and noneme got the gift card. I literally clicked as soon as she posted this. SCAM to get your info!

  12. Chris

Meh, I unsubscribed them, hopes it worked. Don’t want to deal with them…going on with my life. Live and learn.

  13. Angela Sandoval

I confirmed my email hours ago, but still no gift card email. Has anyone else actually received that email?

  14. Nicole

I’m emailing and rating this spam too. Everyone needs to ban together to stop this disception.

  15. Liz

Same here. I wrote them a nasty email yesterday with the same accusation of fishing for info, that this was never portrayed as a contest, etc. I told them I was reporting them for mail fraud and I did. They ought to be banned from being allowed to do business on the internet.

  16. Melissa

Posted a review on their fb page: https://www.facebook.com/essence.north.america/

Also responded to their email from 5:43pm. It reads as follows for anyone who doesn’t know:

Thank you for entering to receive a $5 Target gift card!
We were totally overwhelmed by your responses! Due to limited supplies, the promotion is now closed and winners have been notified via email with their prize. Stay tuned for more opportunities to win as well as upcoming promotions and news about essence cosmetics!

  17. amy

only one email of five actually got the gift card.bought some vitamins on Amazon

  18. Laura

I received a rejection email – BUT just now they sent my $5 Target gift card. Maybe they’re realizing they screwed up

    • Laura

This is after I sent them an email stating I did indeed received a congrats! you’ve won email from them.

  19. Melissa

I just received one as well! I first got the rejection, but replied with a screenshot of the message I received after subscribing to the original. I wonder if everyone is getting one? Or just those who are making a stink?

Make sure you check your email!

  20. Melissa

eh, i complained on their fb page, but i already made sure to unsubscribe from their emails… πŸ˜›
