I just wait until everyone moves out from our local college and pick them up for free!😀 picked up 6 this year and they went to the local school for their classrooms….. Best part of school being over….. College kids throw everything away😳
I agree! There used to be a Goodwill close to a local university and I would find THE best stuff that college kids donated. I spent $3.99 for a new, very expensive backpack that obviously was a college student’s leftover. I got my money’s worth when I went back to college, and now when we travel.

We live near a University and both my oldest 2 attend. I thought I’d end up with some cast offs when we helped our son move out of his on campus apartment this last semester because we usually see so much waste. The school had invited local charities to set up collection “pods” all over campus near every dumpster and more. I was so glad to see things going in those donation pods instead of the dumpsters! Very little was thrown away. I was actually hoping to find a file cabinet I could salvage this year. I am surpised more schools don’t do this already.
Amy , that’s awesome the school has gotten more conscious and put up the pods for donations! Our large university does this as well (all bikes are donated to the local police to give at Christmas time)….but year after year we still see the waste😬
We walked away with 9 full large containers of unused Tide that we donated to the local shelter….
We ended up with 8 car loads of rescued items to be distributed out to local charity’s…..but it is getting better….
Debby I believe it was students who took the idea to the university. Many really do not want to throw out so much but can’t fit everything to take back home or many students are from out of state and flying home. Most have just had a busy few weeks of finals and throw in the pressure of having a “check out” deadline and many just don’t have the time to deal with the items in a eco friendly way. I think it is an amazing idea and win for everyone! The university doesn’t have to deal with overflowing dumpsters, students can easily help others, and less trash for the planet.

I picked up 2 of these at Target about 6 months ago for $4.48 each. I had never seen them at Target nor have I seen them there since. They are very nice quality, not flimsy at all!
Anyone with a Meijer, they have these in brown and gray for $14.99 each plus they carry another 3 drawer weave design that is bigger for around $21.
