I have this set and everything sticks…please dont make the mistake i did
isn’t that the nature of stainless steel? you have to keep things moving &/or keep it greased up?
(not being sarcastic, just wondering if there exists stainless that this isn’t the case?)
Cooking on SS is a skill – most of the time it only means that your heat is not high enough or the pot/pan is not sufficiently preheated. I’ve ditched all my Teflon coated cookware in favor of SS or cast iron and do not miss it one bit. Stay with SS or cast iron (enameled cast iron is even easier to care for) as it is safer than Teflon in every measure.
Sorry to hear that! Thanks for sharing your experience!
You need to cook differently with stainless steel than you do, for example, with non-stick cookware. Unlike non-stick, you need to allow the pan to heat without anything in it, then add your fat to heat, then add your ingredients. If you don’t, your food will stick terribly. Also, you don’t want to cook above medium-high heat (and because of the nature of the material, you don’t need to do so). There are some great videos on the internet to show you the best way to cook with stainless steel.
I have this set of pans, and they are fabulous. The sizes of the pots and pans are great, and once I learned how to cook with them, they are very easy to clean. I would never go back to non-stick. These will last decades, unlike non-stick, which needs to be replaced once it starts becoming scratched.
Thanks for the helpful feedback Nancy! Good to know!
Why would you buy this set at this price when america’s test kitchen rated the tramontina tri-ply SS cookware quality at the same level as all-clad.Its cheaper and looks better.Only available on walmart(dot)com
I’ve had this set for over a year and couldn’t be happier! I did a lot of research before buying, and this line has gotten some great reviews and mentions. The 12 inch skillet was the -“winner” for best inexpensive skillet when reviewed by America’s Test Kitchen — see their website for more details.
I have a few pieces of this cookware and I love it. Yes, it is different cooking with it vs. non-stick cookware but it lasts SO much longer and you don’t have to worry about only using plastic utensils (which also leak chemicals into your food) and non-scrubbing sponges, etc. I like that I can cook things like blackened tuna and just soak/scrub the pot – no worries about scratching the finish. I’ve given up on non-stick pots and pans after a horrible experience with Crapalon… I mean Calphalon. 🙂 I don’t buy sets of pans either, I just buy based upon the pan size and features that I need. I have an odd assortment from Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Kohls, etc. but they are all exactly what I need and I don’t have any useless pans/lids sitting around.
