I purchased a very similar set from Costco about 2 years ago also made of Cedar. After 2 years it began to wear very poorly where the wood turned an ugly faded white color and most of the wood began to develop cracks. We contacted costco and they agreed to refund our money. So we had to take it all apart and box it up and band it to a pallet ready for shipping. We took it down on July 5th and are still waiting for the delivery company to contact up with a pick up date. We paid $1500 for it so I’m glad we are getting our money back. Just a heads up. They look very similar and will likely not hold up very well

Sorry to hear it did not hold up well! Thanks for sharing your experience!

What a pain! At least they agreed to a refund – that’s amazing!

      • dblD-amber

Tell me about it. I felt so bad for hubby spending 2 days to assemble it and then 5 hours breaking it down, building a pallet and packing it all up. Then to have it sit in our driveway for over 3 weeks now has been aggravating. Can wait for it to be gone. On the bright side we put the money from the refund Into a new above ground pool. A great excuse to utilize all the vs bikini from their clearance lol

Costco has agreed to refund for The Roomba that has not been working like before. That’s why we always like to make purchases through Costco as they have always worked in our favor when something doesn’t ( had problem with a humidifier too)work out.

Actually we had a pool in our old house and now a even bigger pool in our new home. Never did we feel it was hard to maintain as long as you are educated about what you are doing and how to maintain proper water ph, it maintains itself. My children are younger so they actually miss the set. At this price point I wouldn’t have cared as much but I’m glad a company stood begin their product. Thanks for your input

I’ve been around pools my whole life. Salt pools are the way to go. pools are hard to take care of. the ph isn’t what is difficult that is the easy part the hard part is keeping it chlorinated. Most people don’t shock and understand that chlorine evaporates out of the pool. I worked at a pool company for 5 years. Its hard to keep debris out. If you think its easy then good for you. glad u found something better then a swing set that works for you.

I wonder if you sealed all the wood before you put it together if that would help. I have always been reluctant to buy these wood playsets. we have a step2 set that we bought over 10 years agos. Once my older kids grew out of it, gave it to a friend, and now that we have another little one again, they gave it back. It looks barely faded and is still in great shape for our newst one. Maybe try a plastic one or the ones made from poly lumber…

I typed a response but am not seeing it – we have a cedar playset from Costco and we stained it after one or two years when It started to fade to that white/grey color. It has held up very well. It has been six years and still looks great, even in the rainy area where we live.

if you read the comments on it, they’re all very flattering and say it holds up. i think it’s a great buy, i’m going to purchase, thanks for posting this one Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re very welcome!

  3. Missy

We don’t have this exact set but if you want any of them to last you need to restain them with some sort of waterseal

    • dblD-amber

Yes I would expect to do so after a few years. After one year it was very disappointing. Especially since we covered it over the winter as well.

      • Amy

Are you sure the instructions did not say to treat in within 30 days? well your in for a surprise a pool isn’t any easier to take care of I have had a pool for 5 years such a pain to take care of not sure if you should have spent your money on that if you couldn’t even seal the swing set. just saying pools are tons of work. I’m guessing you just just regretted your purchase and wanted something new. just saying I hope I’m wrong. good luck with the pool.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the helpful tip! Good to know!

Ours was bought from Costco – 6 years ago and has held up very well. We did put a stain on it after the first year though.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for the feedback Heather! Glad to hear how well it has held up through the years!

  5. mamarenie

I also had one very similar to this. We did seal it and it didn’t last. After two years it was junk. They refused to do anything. We just tore it down and burned it on the burn pile.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry to hear that! 🙁 Thanks for the honest review!

  6. Just Went To Check On Amazon And The Deal Went Up

Just know that installation is about 650 dollars.

    • Lynn

Who would pay for installation? I can’t imagine doing that so if I didn’t have a husband or son to do it, I’d have to figure something else out, maybe a local teenager or two. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be making the purchase. Just my two cents…

      • Erin

        Not every man is handy…

      • Amy

        Only men can assemble things?

  7. Sheera

    Will they install this?

  8. Heather

We have a cedar set and they recommend you stain them every year. Ours is new this year so I can not tell you how it holds up but we plan to stain it every year. All wood sets require some type of up keep when they are sitting outside in the elements.

  9. Kelly

I bought a gorilla playset. $2400. was normally $4000. It clearly states in the instructions to seal it within 30 days of assembly. I bet yours would have been fine if you had sealed it. Its super important. Any outdoor wood needs to be treated or it won’t last long.

    • dblD-amber

On my particular set it said not to treat for 2 years. I contacted the manufacturer when we bought to make sure. They said as with any treated wood it has to cure and dry before any stain can be applied. Well ot didn’t make 2 years and that’s why I believe they are taking it back

  10. ERIN

Looks like its sold out now. Thanks for this offer. We really would like to find a good deal on a play set. Hopefully we’ll get one next time. Love your site!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer! I am seeing that now as well 🙁 Thanks for the heads up!

  11. NL

So bummed it’s sold out 🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Darn!

  12. Tanya

    I missed it too 😢.
