I’m thinking of doing the same thing for my daughter as she wants a loft bed. I have a question though…how tall is it under the bed? It’s hard to tell from pictures. Is it tall enough that you can stand under the bed?

Thanks if you can respond and if you want to email me it’s tjelfert4@gmail.com

Have that bed pictured and it’s so neat! You can flip it upside down and create a top bunk instead!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for the feedback Katie! Good to know!

Gahhh… I just bought a mattress and that exact bed tent in the picture less than 2 weeks ago. Of course.

Trip to ikea is 2.5hrs drive, is there clearance stuff that anyone has purchased? And if the coupon and valid on clearance and if it is worth the trip as I’ve always been wanting to go once and as I’m just looking for decor and end tables….

    • Lana

It is easiest to shop online first so you have an idea what you want. But, things often look vastly different in the store. It is overwhelming to go without having a list of what you might want to purchase.

i have purchased VERY many clearance items there. the selection is different by store and varies all the time, i imagine.
when we first moved into this house, i got a desk, leather chair, couch, futon, slipcover for the couch, and home delivery all for under $300 — and it was one of their comfortable higher-end couches, too, not one of their cheapie ones. these were all clearance. our store has one day a week that clearance items are an ADDITIONAL 25% off.
sometimes it’s floor models they are done with, scratch/dent, out-of-box, discontinued items, that kind of stuff.
i have also gotten GREAT under-bed giant rolling drawers there in the clearance section, and luggage that has held up and served us well.
but it’s random. sometimes i can’t find what i want in clearance. and some of the clearance looks brand-new and sometimes it looks scuffed or banged-up.

My local Ikea has an “as-is” room. As another poster commented, the quality and selection varies wildly. It’s usually a mixture of floor models, discontinued items and returns. There’s almost always as assortment of hardware and spare shelves and doors (which are only useful if you already have the rest of the item or you’re looking for craft/DIY supplies). They usually have a couple huge bins of textiles as well – I’ve never sorted through them but there seems to be a lot of slipcovers for their furniture. The markdowns vary too. All that being said, I check it almost every time I’m there. The best find was 8 matching picture frames, roughly 16″x20″ with mats for $5 each. Another time I got a fake orchid for 50% off because one of the rings that holds the stem to the stick was missing. I would look through their catalogue or website before making a special trip. Pay attention to sizes of the furniture too – some of their stuff is smaller than usual (apartment scale). I wouldn’t depend on a great clearance find to make the trip worth it.

so i can skip printing and just show this on my phone?

Yes! I did a screen shot of the coupon and showed it to the cashier at checkout! Works like a charm! Happy shopping 😉

4 hour drive, one way, to IKEA for me but worth it! Love their items and store itself!

  11. Luna

I never had lived near an Ikea before but moved to the Atlanta area last fall. My Aunt was going one day and I tagged along. I saw a few things that I liked but didn’t commit to buying them since I wasn’t totally unpacked and didn’t know for sure they would work in my new house. After living in my space for awhile, I totally wanted to go back and get them. I had to take a friend to the airport yesterday and decided to make the most of the trip and stop by Ikea on the way home for those things. Before I went, I went to their website to print out a list so that if I had trouble finding them, I would have the product numbers to get some help. There on the home page was the 20.00 off 150.00 coupon! the things I wanted added up to 129.00 so I got 2 pillows, 2 picture frames, and some kitchen items to add up to 150.00. So those things were basically free. I was a happy customer!

Can someone who has this bed as a loft bed how tall it is as a loft? Like how much room is under the bed? Can you stand under the bed or ?

    Thank you for any information.

we have it and have been very happy with it. it IS NOT tall underneath. it might only be about 4 feet tall under there. it is not as tall as a normal bunk bed.
i like it because it is easier to change the sheets than on a normal top bunk, because an adult can easily reach in when it is set up loft-style.
for a while we also put a big bean-bag under it and strung up Christmas lights under with a remote-control for the lights so it was a like a reading nook for my son. and his toybox also fit under there.
now we have a toddler bed underneath where my 2-year-old sleeps under my older son. my toddler can sit up in bed just fine, but he could not stand on his toddler bed without bending down his head.

The link gives me an error when I try to go to the coupon. Is it still available?

    • Christine

She has a newer post with the coupon links and those work. I think the date of post is 8/12.

  16. Christine

I can’t get the link to work.

    • Christine

nevermind, the newer post from 8/12 works.
