I’m disappointed. yesterday fairs were low. Today they increased the prices.

  2. Sarah

That “sale” is odd. I bought tickets last week for a trip and paid $104 less than the exact same trip/times on sale today.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that Sarah! Thanks for the honest feedback!

I made a reservation 7-13-16 on SW to fly 8-18-16. Today the flight is slightly lower. I called SW and they credited my frequent flyer account with the difference.

  4. Jessica

The prices from Philadelphia to Orlando were over $100 cheaper per person yesterday.

I’m always watching these hoping that something will work out to go see my daughter, but she lives in Italy and there are never deals for that. It’s been almost 7 months since we’ve seen her πŸ™

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hoping you get to see her soon!

    • Joanna

You need to follow glitch sites. That’s the only way you’ll get a great deal to Italy. I flew two yrs ago for $600 to Italy round trip. These sales aren’t meant for out of country travel

      • Rosie

Joanna – what are glitch sites?

    • Katherine

Try The Flight Deal and Escape Houston. Escape Houston has a drop down list of other cities. NYC is the Europe Hub. Flights to Italy out of EWR and JFK. Southwest flies to EWR and LGA (domestic airport). If you fly into LGA its 9miles (uber) to Time Square. Stay the night then fly out of JFK or EWR. When flying Icelandair they allow 2 checked bags free too and have travel to Europe with stop overs in Iceland. Yaaaas! πŸ™ŒπŸ»
I’ll keep an eye on this post to see if anyone else needs some help. 😏

    • Katherine

Sann – I don’t know where you are flying from in the USA or to in Italy to narrow the search down. Here is what I found on Skyscanner.com. I typed in USA-Italy nonstop then selected the ‘cheapest month’ option.
Then you’d need to select the destination Milan is showing $423, Naples $567, Palermo $569, Venice $608, Rome $621 and Pisa $867. Click on the price and USA state you are departing from then it will give you a calendar of when the cheapest flights are with the daily price. This is a good start.

      • sann

It would be from Portland Or to either Florence Italy or Pisa is even closer. We used Costco last time and it was about 3800 for 3 of us and 2 nights in a hotel (you have to book a hotel when you use Costco travel) but now we have a place to stay and just need cheaper airline tickets. Thanks everyone!

I actually love Southwest…I love to check back and see if the price is lower (or higher!). If its higher, I pat myself on the back! If it’s lower I change the flight online and get the difference in price as a credit! It’s great!!

  7. Callie

Katherine, your amazing! And thank you!

    • Katherine

      Thanks so much! =)

      • sann

that was super sweet of you πŸ™‚

  8. Janae Hagan

I’ve just started stalking their site for a flight for our Disney trip in October. When can I catch the best deal?? We are flying from B’ham to Orlando or Memphis to Orlando?

    • Katherine

Janae – When you are on the Southwest home page and you see the fields for depart and arrive directly under that there is a yellow calendar icon Flexible dates. Click that! Put in to/from and the month then it will show the price for every day.
Out of Memphis you could do 10/17 Monday 7:50am-10:45am non stop and return 10/21 Friday 5:50pm-6:55pm non stop for $164.46/per person.
Out of Birmingham there are several dates but the cheapest option would cost $231.96/per person.

*I checked the Memphis-Orlando flight on the Matrix Airfare Search and the Southwest flight beats American Airlines $188, Delta $187, United $187 and other carriers.

Keep in mind that after you book if you find a cheaper fare with Southwest Airlines you can get a refund for the difference BUT if you book the ‘Wanna Get Away’ fare then they will issue you a credit to use for future use.

      Hope this helps! =)

  9. SJ

I gladly pay a little extra to always fly with Southwest. Their customer service can’t be beat and I love their “all-in” pricing. I don’t have to worry about baggage fees, drink fees…other airlines want to charge you to carry on any more! Soon they’ll charge to use the seat belts…

  10. Pinky

Katherine, I’m told you need a travel agent to book a flight if using matrix. I should mention the JetBlue CS told me that when I tried to book with them. Is it true for others as well?

    • Katherine

Pinky, tickets can not be booked directly from the Matrix Airfare Search ITA software. It’s more of a database to search several airlines at once. Here is the site to check it out 😏
