I didnt get a diaper bag from thebaby shower with my oldest and I found ome ay BigLots for a pretty good deal. I foumd myself actually hating it and I ended up using my JanSport messanger bag instead. The changing pad things are overrated just use a couple receiving blankets and toss them in the wash as needed. Those pads can only be wiped down. By my third baby I just keep a diaper or two with a travel wipes in my purse no diper bag at all. If I need more with me like extra clothes I just use a bigger purse or a small backpack.
I use a clean wipe to lay under the kid. it saves time and money because no extra laundry.

I love all the deals but I cringe to think what the workers were paid if they can afford to sell this for $4.
