Good deal. Looks to be half the price of Target and Walmart. Thanks!

Has anyone had success using meletonin to help regulate sleep? Or fall asleep at night? Thanks!

    • rebecca

my son has medical problems, and this is prescribed to him nightly. it has been hugely successful and a great help to us and his health and well-being. his body needs the regulating effects and cannot become restful on his own.
for myself, i use it on occasion, maybe once a month or so to help me fall asleep, and it helps me as well. it’s possible that for me it’s only a placebo-affect, but that is still valuable to me if i could not otherwise fall asleep–at such a cheap price, non-habit-forming, no side effects, and gentle.

Works wonders for helping my kids fall asleep. We split a 3 mg orally disintegrating tablet between the 2 of them.

Thanks Collin! I needed more and this is my preferred brand and dosage. Yay!

      You’re welcome Sarah!

I’m going to be “that person.” 😀 If you are giving this hormonal supplement to children, especially, please consult their pediatrician. If you are an adult, PLEASE don’t swallow multiple pills of this supplement hoping for a better result. I cannot tell you how many patients report doing this to me. This hormone is not without risk. I believe this article delineates the risks and benefits in a user friendly manner. Always consult your physician.

thank you for not sounding “Judgy” and for citing a source! i agree people should use this regularly only if the child has been evaluated by a pediatrician and/or psychiatrist, or under recommendation of other licensed and trusted medical personnel.
for a child or adult, also can start with a half dose or 1 mg before taking a larger dose, and see if that suffices.
and try periodically doing without any sleep aid to gage if your natural rhythms and schedule are synchronized and you can possibly rest on your own.

I also agree but keep in mind the original dose for Melatonin is 3mcg but there are now the 3mg & 5 mg dose tabs: so start off with the lower dose. Also at several health food stores you can find the Melatonin in liquid form that is actual much safer but DON’t give more than the recommended dosage & check with your Pediatrician. Also for adults this item can cause infertility issues (but don’t consider it as a birth-control pill). For sleep: A glass of warm milk; turkey sandwich on whole wheat or hand full of Almonds can be a better starting point and may actual provide the same effect.

If anyone is looking for an alternative, natural sleep aid, I highly, highly recommend the Olly sleep gummies. You can find them at Target or GNC for sure, not sure where else. Been incredibly helpful for my husband, who had no luck with other things he tried. The recommended dose is for 2 gummies, but normally even just 1 will knock him out. Great reviews too, people who had luck getting off Ambien with it, etc.

As a pharmacist for several years, please note that all natural supplements are potentially “risky” given the fact that they are unregulated by the FDA. I agree, low dose melatonin is not without risk, but just ensure you’re buying from a reliable source and using the minimum dose necessary. Most pediatricians that I know and work with have very little concern with melatonin.

Also, the best sources of medical information are from peer-reviewed medical journals. I would read all “.com” websites and articles with a skeptical eye.

Thanks Colin for always finding the best deals!!

Thanks for the helpful feedback Lauren! You’re very welcome!

Agreed with those talking about dosage on these types of supplements.. be very careful, dosages are often way higher than recommended.

We use Zarbee’s brand to help my 5 year old sleep. He’s asthmatic and his coughing fits interfere with his sleep. We find that if it’s a bad breathing day, half the recommended dosage of the honey based cough suppressant with melatonin helps him fall asleep and stay asleep. His pediatrician does advise not using it every day (which we don’t).

My son is on chlonodine and melatonin to help him sleep but still sleep walks and has sleep disruptions every night. I have worked with not only to try to get answers as to why he has such issues but have also started seeing a dr at a local children’s hospital’s sleep clinic. The sleep clinic actually told me that I could use up to 10 MG of melatonin for him but of course we’ve never reached that. They said anything over 10 MG was just wasting money and had no additional helpful benefits. So there are limits to how much will actually help and at what point it’s just wasteful.
