Are these bears they get to build ??

    • happymom

Same question as above…. Will they get to build it? My son’s birthday falls on 9/9, i have nicknamed him teddy bear 🙂 and he would love to go and get one.

    • cathy

I’m wondering the same thing lol

    • Jennifer

      Yes, they are!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes! I called my local store and they informed me that you do build these bears in the store. They have certain designated bears available. Be sure to ask the store associate when you head in 🙂

    • Anna

      Yes

  2. Kate

You can go on their website and look up Lil’ Vanilla Bean Cub and iT looks like it’s 15 inches tall. So yes you can probably fill it there. Not 100% sure though

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Kate! Yes! You will build these bears in store 😉

  3. Jess

You do not have to fill the bear on the day that you purchase them. You could give one as a gift and the child could go in and fill it later.

I bought a bear for my cousins son and filled him on the day that she delivered so that they would have matching birth certificates! Just an idea, if you know someone expecting.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What a great idea Jess! Thanks for the suggestion!

    • Ej

Thank u posting this info as I was wondering if I could gift it (mail it to them) n they stuff it later.

  4. Angie

Odd question but what’s the hype about build-a-bear? I’ve never been it seems like a toy store.
Is there anything special about the Bears that are different than other places?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Angie! They are rather nice quality bears and kids usually get a kick out of building their own and picking out an outfit for them. Hope that helps!

    • Just Me

I guess the difference is you get an experience in addition to the bear. My sister made me one and she said it was a process-think there was something about massaging the heart to bring the bear to life.
I bought some for my daughter so we’ll see…

    • mamasweetpea08

yup. i think it’s more about the experience and customizing your bear. Instead of pre-made bears, you get to be part of the process for the creation of the bear (naming it, stuffing it, bathing it, picking out sounds or clothes for it, etc.)

    • Kate

You also “register” the bear, so if it is lost, it can be brought to any build a bear and they can find the owner.

My son’s bear was loosing some fluff. We took it in and they added some more filling and stitched it back up. Good as new.

Perfect timing!! My daughters 5th birthday is on the 16th and I was wanting to take her there… We’ll just go a little earlier than we had planned! Yay!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Aww, how exciting! Happy Birthday to your daughter!

    • Lisa

You could buy it Friday then take her back (with your receipt) and go on her real day, if you want.

  6. rn30032

I’m getting me one at 37yo…lol

    • kristi

I’m 33 with 3 year old twins, and I think I’m more excited about getting myself one than taking the kids to build their own! 🙂

      • Amanda

Kristi- I’m 34 with 3 year old twins! I’ve never built one and neither have my twins, I think Friday is going to have to be our first time! I’m so excited! 🙂

  7. Redgoldfish

Unfortunately, the NYC store recently closed. No other close enough stores for me to get to. 🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Darn!

    • ellie

there is one on btw 34 & 32st, I once got one when I was 14 years old on mother’s day lol

  8. Suzanne H

I had no idea my son’s birthday is on National Teddy Bear day; that’s too cute!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yes! Super cute! 😉

  9. Maria

Do y’all think a 2 year old would appreciate doing this? It seems like a gun activity, but don’t know if it’s geared more towards older kids. Also, the wording gets cut off on the app now all the time on the comments section. Please fix this!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Maria! Sorry for the issues and thanks so much for the feedback! While we work on getting this fixed, be sure to head to the browser of your mobile device to view hip2save.com similar to how you would on your desktop.

    • Tracie

My 2 year old had fun doing this! You have to help them a little more, but my son still sleeps with his dory he made!

  10. Vicki

We moved not long ago, and our closest BAB is now about 100 mi. away. Because of this my recent BAB rewards coupon expired. I didn’t think about using it online. Does anyone know if they would reissue it?

    • Angela

No they don’t reissue them. Next time, you can go online and use your $10 reward to buy a $10 gift card and the gift card never expires.

      • Vicki

Angela great idea! Had not thought of that. I will remember for next time.

    • Redgoldfish

Yes, I’ve called them and they’ve reissued them as a courtesy more than once.

  11. Sarah

I just want to let you guys know that the stores are only getting a few of the limited edition bears so please don’t get upset with the stores for not having them. There will be plenty of the hazelnut and vanilla bears though.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up Sarah! Good to know!

  12. Patti

So let me get this straight in my head about the deal on Friday
You can buy a bear for $5 and you can gift it to someone?
    Will the offer expire?
What if you wanted to go back and build it a year from now?
Where is build a bear store at in Orlando area?

    • Sarah

Yes, you can buy it unstuffed and give as a gift so they can bring it in to stuff themselves. Make sure you ask for a gift receipt at the register to put with the bear. You can bring it in at any time to stuff, even years later. You can go on Build-A-Bear’s website and look on the store locator to find store locations.

They didn’t tell us they still had any bears, just said they’d sold out at 12:30
