Be aware that signing a 24 month agreement adds $20/month on your bill. So you will actually pay $480 for this phone. You could sell your iphone 6 on ebay and buy an iphone 7 for cheaper than this!

    • Kelsey

You pay extra for signing a contract with them?? That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

      • Angela

        YES this. Beware.

    • Andrea

It adds the same amount they are giving you in credit so it ends up being a $0 difference. You get $650 in credits over 24 months and the phone costs $650 over 24 months.

    • Laura

I don’t. I pay $50 plus taxes – I’ve renewed my 2 year contract through them for over 10 years

  2. Erin

It’s NOT free if you’re financing $650 for $24 months for the phone. your just getting it on credit without interest!

    • Erin

      Nevermind just reread.

  3. Rach

Anyone know how I can get one if I’m paying off my iPhone 6 every month but want to upgrade it to the 7?

    • Kim F.

I am wondering the same thing. I’m about 2/3 paid off on my 6plus. Is that debt erased when I trade ot in?

  4. taylor

how exactly is this free then??

    • Erica

      I’m also confused ๐Ÿค”

      • Lauren

        Me too ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Taylor! It will be free you trade in a qualifying iPhone 6, 6s or 6s Plus Phone AND sign up for a 24-month finance agreement. The savings will be credited to your account as recurring payments over 24-months beginning within 2-3 cycles, for a total promotional value of $650. Hope this helps!

      • Andrea

I don’t see where the 7plus is available for this offer. Can you confirm?

      • Brenda

How come the end of some comments are cut off and can’t be seen? I use an Iphone5.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Brenda! We are working on fixing this! In the mean time, be sure to use the browser of your mobile device to view hip2save.com as you would on your desktop. Hope this helps!

  5. Christina

You need to pay off your current phone on the payment plan before you get a new phone. You can only get the iphone 7 32Gig for free. If you want the plus you need to pay extra.

  6. Amanda

I have Verizon and I am upset at their current “upgrade methods” but I waited a few months after my contract was up and renewed it through Best Buy around Christmas last year. They were offering an iPhone 6 for $1 (when you signed a contract with Verizon) and if you traded in your working smartphone they gave you a $200 Best Buy gift card. Wait it out people!! Better deals out there ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Frankie

Ditto! I really need a new phone and am saving up to get what I want on ebay!

    • MEGAN

Does that include people who currently use verizon? Could I keep my same number?

      • Steph

Yes my contract was up in November of last year and I got a iPhone 6, for $1 through Best Buy and activated it and it reset my contract. Same number, same plan, no extra fees or anything

    • Sarah Schneider

good to know Steph because I want to do this for Christmas and this deal is too early for me haha!! I will check out best buy closer to Christmas for my kids ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Michelle

Colin, AT&T is doing a similar trade in deal that started today. I am trading my 6 in for a free 7 in rose gold with AT&T!!! Woohoo!

They also have a deal where you can port over a new number from a different carrier for a free 7!!!

    • Stephanie

      Thank you for posting this!

    • Hilary

Are you serious?? I didn’t know about this. Thanks! You’re the best.

    • Mary (Stellar Sidekick)

Awesome! Thanks Michelle! Here is more details on AT&T’s promotion – https://bit.ly/2czUgII

  8. Laura

I checked to see what my trade-in would be to do this and my iPhone 6 Gold 64GB shows they will only credit my account $220. I own the phone, I don’t have any payments on it and they won’t give me the full credit of $650. So what phone is worth $650 then if the last iPhone isn’t worth it to them? I am so confused.

    • Samantha

It’s a promo so it’s not the same as trade-in value.

    • Sarah Schneider

initially it shows the basic trade in value but once you put the new phone in your cart it puts the promotional trade in value. For example, at first my 5C was worth 36 dollars but after the promo hit in my cart it changed to 400!

  9. Jill

Did Verizon do away its discounts for upgrades? I am eligible for an upgrade but it shows full price unless I do the installment plan method

    • Jessica

Are you looking for a two year contract? Best Buy and Target still do them.

    • MEGAN

Yes they did. I shattered my screen yesterday and decided to just upgrade instead of fixing said screen. I logged into Verizon to see what I could get and ended up speaking to a representative who said yes they only offer the installment plan or either you buy a phone from somewhere else and use it.

  10. Jen

Kind of off topic but just read about Google’s Project Fi (can’t use iPhone with). Has anyone tried it? Looks like from a lot of people’s comments above they are always looking for the hidden fee and the “catch” to all the deals. Was thinking about leaving Sprint since our contract ends next month to simplify with Project Fi but haven’t talked to anyone who made the switch. No hidden fees, no contract, only pay for the data you use. Thoughts anyone?

  11. Johnnie

I’m just curious on when they will have a big sale on the iPhone SE, or iPhone 6? I thought they had the older phones for $99 before, when the last iPhone came out.

    • Laura

I’m showing the SE for 99 cents in my account through Verizon – so is the rest of my family

    • Steph

I got my iPhone 6 for $1 last fall at Best Buy during holiday season

  12. Dam

I just got off the phone with Verizon and they do offer the discount contract renewal for 200. But yes on a good condition iPhone 6 64 you only get 220

  13. Suzanne Tolliver

I just talked to Verizon. I have an iPhone 6 16 GB phone. I just traded it in for the new iPhone 7 32 GB and paid $21 for activation. My phone will be here on 9/23. I’ve been paying $40 a month for data, but with the new phone I will only be paying $25 so, there’s a $15 monthly savings right there. My next 2 billing cycles will show like a $25 charge for the new iPhone 7. My 3rd billing cycle will show a $50 credit to cover that and then every month thereafter it will show them billing me $25 for the phone and then a $25 credit which will mean $0. They’ll send me a prepaid envelope to send in my iPhone 6 for trade which completely covers the cost of the iPhone 7 32 GB, not just a $220 credit unless you’re ordering the iPhone 7 plus or with extra GB’s etc. Also if you don’t live in a tax free state, you’ll have to pay for tax on the $649 new iPhone 7. There’s also no more contracts that you have to sign up for with them.
I hope this helps some of you with your decision to get it now or not ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Jenn N

I just signed up and got the 7 with 128 mem. I will pay 4.16 per month for 2 years. Also I had an upgrade fee and had to pay taxes. 66.66 is what needs to be paid and will be charged when my phone ships. 9/16. Yay

  15. Greg Efner

I called Verizon this afternoon and they gave me a $400 credit for my I phone 5!
I had to pay a $20 upgrade fee plus tax. My monthly payment is $14 for a 128gb iPhone 7.

  16. Angel C

Looks like Apple stores and apple online is doing straight trade ins. My 64g iPhone 6 is going to get a straight credit for $225 and I can apply that to the cost and then if I stick with version I get to take the remaining cost and split it up in 24 payments. They did get rid of the $200 credit program a while back. Not sure how someone got it on. I’ve argued with them for years on this.

  17. Joe C.

They are VERY deceptive about their phone pricing models now, so make sure you pay attention to the fine print. They try to get you to pay on phones monthly, and even sometimes accessories, which will make them more expensive than if you just paid for it up front. They’ve adopted a rent-to-own model of sorts. Pretty ridiculous. Especially since you can get accessories – glass screen protector, charger, case, etc….online for far, far cheaper. BEWARE!!!!
