Are you and the kids struggling with how hectic weeknight evenings can be after coming home from school?
Are they like mine with not wanting to do homework and also not wanting to go to bed on time because they are used to summer? 😊
Here’s a brilliant and easy DIY project to create some structure and establish your family’s routine. Make a custom daily routine to keep everyone on track and aware of expectations!
It takes just a few minutes and a couple supplies to make..
For this Project You’ll Need:
Directions: Establish an after school and evening schedule and assign a different color for each block of time. Color the face of the clock with the colors you have decided for each task. For example, in our home the schedule would go playtime and snack after school, then homework, dinner, bath, reading, and bedtime.
Another more permanent option would be to take off the back off the clock and use markers to actually color the white part of clock. I decided to just stick with dry erase so I can change or add things to the routine.
You can write out each task on the clock or make a chart mapping out what each color means, and then hang it up next to the clock on the wall so it’s easy to reference..
I love this idea for after school, but you could definitely use it for morning routines. I’ve seen a similar idea done before using red and green markers letting younger kids know when it’s too early to get up in the morning! 😉
