    It’s saying its $7.84

Oh that’s odd. It’s still showing up for me at $5. Are you perhaps on a mobile device? You may want to try hopping on a computer or trying a different browser. I hope this helps!

Hi Brittani! So, it seems it varies by region. So, your area must have it priced at $7.84.

Do you have to do something for it to go down to $5 ? It’s showing up as $7.84 in my area . Or that price might be in certain areas only . TIA

It looks like the price varies from store to store. The Walmart in my town has it for 5 dollars but the one a few towns over has it for 7.84. Hope this helps!

AH! Ok. Thanks for the heads up Kelly!

I would not recommend using this brand of charcoal. I usually use Kingsford, but I bought this brand once for the 4th of July this year just to try a more “rustic/authentic” looking charcoal for once…. & noticed some little white plaster/tile/rocks looking things while dumping the lit charcoal out onto the grill the first time….I know that charcoal in general is made out of old recycled material…. so thought it would be no biggy…….. walking on the way to putting more ribs on the grill…..with both hands of my hands full…..and .literally very few seconds away from the chimney that was heating up more charcoal….it exploded BOOM! It was so loud it was like a firework going off right by my ear. the SCORCHING hot lit charcoal exploded out at least 6 feet in every direction & the chimney fell over with a bang…….the rolled up remaining bag of charcoal caught fire at the tip….the first thing I did was run to throw sand on it before the rest of the charcoal itself caught fire…..I am so grateful even months later that none of the kids were in the back yard, nothing caught fire & that I wasn’t 4 feet closer to that explosion. I am without a doubt that I would’ve ended up in the hospital or worse. My theory is that one or more of the man-made looking foreign bits I was seeing the first go got too hot & exploded. I threw out the rest of the bag immediately.
If you do buy this brand of charcoal, please please please just sift through it & don’t put anything to light up unless it looks like a piece of wood.

Did you contact the company? What did they say?

      • JenT.

No I didn’t contact the company. Didn’t think they would do anything about it since nobody was hurt and I didn’t lose anything except my time and the bag of charcoal. I just looked at the photo on this page again & realized charcoal that is photographed is the “ridge charcoal” (which I think is more refined/processed than the kind I had, it is more like the kingsford brand) and not their original type of charcoal, which looks like a bunch of soddy stiff chunks of wood mostly, so sorry for my rant, but just be careful what kind you buy from this brand. Either don’t get the original or make sure you only use the biggest pieces if you do get the original. Wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt.

Thanks so much for the warning Jen. SO glad you are okay and no one was hurt!
