The avocado in that photo is so perfect. I have never seen such a beautiful avocado before. Mine are often a little brown inside. Hard to find that perfect ripeness.
I read this tip in a magazine. Just pop the brown cap off the top of the avocado. If it’s green or yellowish green, you’ve got a nice creamy inside like the picture. If the spot is brown, then it’s overripe and probably has brown spots inside. Ever since I learned that trick, I haven’t picked a bad avocado. When my store has them on sale, I buy some that the skins are still very green and feel hard (and the brown cap won’t pop off easily), as they’ll take 2-3 days to ripen up, and I pick some with green tips to use right away.
Also, you can make them last longer if you store them in the fridge.
First, buy green ones & keep in the fridge until a few days before you want to use them; then move them to a counter to ripen.
When they are near perfect ripeness, store them in the fridge until you’re ready to use.
This allows you to stock up when you hit a good sale and still keep them from all ripening at once.
Thanks for the tips Jac! Good to know! 😉
Thanks for the tips.
Avacado is 1.50 in my target…
