Well bummer…. my prime membership ends sept 25… just a couple days too late 😕

    • Kathy

Last year mine was a couple of months away from expiring when they did a similar deal… I chatted with their customer service and they renewed mine at that price! Can’t hurt to try..

    • Ashley

mine expires on the 25, too!

    • A

Mine too! I’m going to try to cancel and renew on 9/23 though.

      • Llama

You can cancel now but it shows your end date of the 25th
It’s worth $99 regardless bc we use it so much.

        • A

What I mean is I’m going to chat with Amazon and see if they’ll let me cancel and renew at the new price. I’m renewing regardless though! 😃

    • Llama

Mine ends the 25th too 🙁

    • Cat

      Mine too!

  2. Lynn S

My Prime membership also expires on September 25. Can we cancel today and re-join tomorrow at the reduced rate?

  3. Pam

I currently have a gift membership. I wonder if I would qualify for this rate?

  4. stephanie

If you already have prime then I don’t think canceling will work. It states NEW prime members. Hope that helps 🙂

  5. Elizabeth

How do you find when your membership expires?

    • Pat

Sign into your account. Click on “your account”, then “your prime membership”. On the left side it will show when your next payment will be due.

      • Elizabeth

        Thank you!

  6. Jennifer

Why do companies only offer deals for new customers? What about us loyal customers who have been with them for years?

  7. Vanessa

Amazon customer service is really great. They may honor it if you call. I had to call the other day when they sent me the wrong item, not to mention it arrived in 3 days rather than two. In addition to refunding me my money for the item, they extended my prime membership by 3 months and gave me a $20 credit.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wow! Good to know that Customer Service was so helpful Vanessa! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  8. lancy

if i give it as a gift, will they still be $68 if the person was a prime member couple years back?

  9. C

I’ve been a Prime member since it started. I wish they would offer deals to loyal customers just once…

  10. Julie

Collin, do you know if we can gift it to ourselves, let our current subscription run out and then use the gift as a “new” member?

  11. C

Hmm I wonder if I can sign up with my husbands name??

  12. Cynthia

I wonder if I would be considered new. Right now I am on someone else’s prime account as a family member. Given she is the main prime holder and gets the extra perks like movies, I wonder if I could do this for myself.

    • Sarah

      I’m wondering the same thing.

  13. katie

Accounts are based off email addresses. For all those who have a membership and want the new member rate, can’t you just make an account with a different email? I’ve done it a few times with Amazon Mom because I don’t have a prime account. I’ve used different email addresses for different trials.

  14. Jade

They might do another deal in January like they did last year!

  15. Amy

They did this last year at during the same time. That’s when I bought mine. 🙂

  16. Erica

Is this the best deal or should I wait for another one?

  17. prani

@Erica – This is the lowest price for Amazon prime

    • Erica

      Prani, thank you. 🙂

  18. Kitty

CAn anyone tell me where I can find the customer service phone number on the Amazon site? I have been looking and can pnly find how to contact them online. I know they have a number but they make it hard to find!

    • SP

I couldn’t find it either, so I Googled Amazon customer service number and found 2 numbers. (888) 280-4331 and (888) 280-3321. Hope that helps! 🙂

  19. Stefanie oster

So is this working? Clicked the link..not seeing the deal??

    • Bryn (Sister Sidekick)

      Hi Stefanie!

The deal is rumored to start tomorrow, September 23rd. We will be sure to post more information as soon as it goes live.

  20. Sara

Mine actually renews tomorrow. Do you think I should cancel today and try to sign up tomorrow and see if it gives me the new price?

    • Jean

U could try but I doubt it since it clearly states new members..

  21. feelgood

When you call to cancel, ask the rep to cancel you immediately, not tomorrow or the 25th or some future date. After hanging up, sign on to see if your membership is canceled and you no longer have prime.

  22. wench1109

I was considering last year cancelling my Prime and doing this.
DON’T do it if you have an older account and have more than 1 family member sharing your Prime.
If you keep your account you are Grandfathered in and nothing will change.
But if you cancel your account or sign up for a new one you can only have 1 extra family member and they have to be in your household.
We use it enough to justify the $99,so I kept my old account.

  23. Ni

Does amazon still have the guest memberships for up to 4 or 5 people? My membership expired months ago, but my husband’s best friend has a current membership. I’m trying to figure out if I should just give him something to add me as a guest or if I need to get my own new membership. Thank you.

    • Cheri

No, memberships now allow you to only add one person and you have access to each other’s payment information.

  24. Melissa

I just switch back and forth between my husbands account and mine account so if it’s been longer then six months then they usually they consider you a new member if that makes sense been doing that for the last 2 years. So like my account expires on the 25th I will just use my husbands account that hasn’t been prime for a year now. I was able to do this last year so hopefully it will work again.

  25. Carol Slavin

I called Amazon before. They said if the deal is $68.00 tommorow and call tomorrow and ask for a supervisor there is a good chance they will honor it

    • amanda meyer

I just did a chat online and asked if they would honor last years price for this year’s renewal and they said no.

  26. Tawney

Mine also expires on the 25th. I just chatted with them and asked that my membership be cancelled effective today. Now my account shows that I am not a prime member and do I want to sign up? Hopefully it will let me sign up tomorrow at the discounted rate.

  27. Niki

I love love love love amazon. I have only had it for three years but maybe 6 times I had to contact customer service and they always resolved any issue no matter the slightest to high standard. Yesterday actually I bought my daughter soccer socks they were 10$ I got them super fast as always and they were to dArk for her team colors so I was gonna return them and they said keep them and they gave me the 10$ refund also..I was pumped because she needs new soccer socks anyway but money was right this month so I had to make sure I had the money to get her exact color in time for her first field hockey away game! I highly recommend amazon. Especially at this price!

  28. Sara

I don’t know if anyone has called today, but I just called and asked about it and they said there is no promotional pricing for $68 right now. It is only $99. 🙁

  29. Sheree

Has anyone had luck with the deal?

  30. Jen

Can anyone find this deal to be true?

  31. Renae

There is no deal for g on right now.

  32. Ann Lanigan

    Just called! Not honoring this!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! I am not seeing an offer at the moment either 🙁 But I will be sure to post if it pops up!

  33. Karen

    Thanks for the updates!

  34. Betsy

I have not been impressed with Amazon Prime at all. My experience is that it isn’t worth it. We had Prime and it took one week to get an order that was supposed to be two days. And when it finally arrived it had been sent ground! When I called to complain I was told their normal experience is for the two day to NOT be two day, but rather get there within a weeks time. Two reps have now told me that it’s really a week.

They are quite deceptive. We signed up for Prime thinking it was $99/year and a month into it found out it was actually a $10.99/month rate which is over $130/year! After contacting customer service I was told they would switch to yearly and credit us the $10.99 and also extend our membership one month. Well, I ended up getting 5 emails telling me they cancelled my Prime.

So, I called customer service a third time and after no apology or explanation as to why that happened was told to sign up for the monthly Prime.

My experience is they are not helpful at all. I do not see any benefit from a Prime membership. When I now place my non-Prime orders we get them in 2-3 days. I just make sure I have the minimum required for free shipping. Saves us a lot of $ and hassle each year.

Just beware and check your credit card statement to make sure you are signed up for the yearly plan rather than the monthly plan!

    • Karen

I agree that if you are using Amazon Prime essentially for the shipping bonuses, then it may not be worth it…….they are so many other benefits to Prime that I use that I would have a hard time giving it up! I use Prime Pantry, unlimited photo storage and get a free early release Kindle book each month. We have also used the Amazon Prime streaming service, but not that much, as we have Netflix. Focusing just on the shipping though….I agree we sometimes don’t get things in 2 days…..but the big thing is not having to spend $35 to get free shipping. That was getting to be a HUGH PIA. I *really* like not having to save things in my cart to add on to reach the minimum. I use camelcamelcamel extension to price watch and when an item hits my target price I can buy instantly without regard to the minimum. They just added Audible as another benefit, which I think I will like. Here are all the benefits:

Colin I don’t know if anyone mentioned it but I just found out that Amazon Prime has a monthly and annual option. When I signed up it said monthly and I thought well that’s good. I can just spread the $99.00 over the year but it isn’t so. With the monthly you end up sending $131.88. It’s $10.99 a month. You have to change the account to Amazon Annual and it gives you the option of $99.00 for the year. Be careful!
