Sometimes I feel like a horrible mom because I just can’t seem to get myself to pay this much for Legos!!! I know it’s cool, but whoa!!!

Don’t feel bad, I can’t legitimize more than $50 on Legos. The sets get built once, then get added to the mixed boxes.

I used to feel that way too. They’re just so expensive. What we did was sign up for the monthly Lego event at the store n then he had a new Lego every month. I also bought a box of mixed ones from a consignment store n those were enough for him to build.

Don’t feel bad!! Most of the sets my son has are the smaller ones, less than $10. He builds them once per instructions then they get destroyed and thrown into a bin with the other Legos. We keep the instructions though and he’ll pull them out sometimes and rebuild them or he invents his own vehicles and playscapes. I can sometimes justify the prices but I too have a hard time spending big bucks on the sets.

Ladies Kmart is the best place to buy lego sets…you can use points, surprise points, and coupons…I got $500 worth of lego last year for my son for christmas for $100…I have picked up 3 sets this week for $3 or less from kmart shipped free to my door…HTH

Last week Target had Minecraft Legos 20 percent off. I typically wait for higher discounts on Legos but my son loooooves Minecraft and they recently released a bunch of new sets that he didn’t have. It’s a good discount, especially for newly released sets. I guess we are in the minority, but we don’t take most of our sets apart. We display them on a large bookshelf and my kids play with them like playsets. (We also have loose bricks to build with.) To me, Legos are an investment and a toy that I will willingly store for my son once he’s grown. They hold their value pretty well and he can sell them when he’s older or save them for his own kids.
