Yay just in time, need to buy a new dresser for my son. Last time we did it, we had about $65 of food and the ribs was surprisingly very good. Well worth it, thanks for the heads up!!!

      You’re welcome Melloddie!

Has anyone done this before? The fine print on their website seems to be very non specific. It actually doesn’t even say it’s for the whole family. It just says “your meal”. To me that would mean just one person. So can I get entrees, drinks, and desserts for my
family of 4 and they will deduct the entire amount from my $100+ home furnishings purchase?

    • K

That’s what we did no questions asked at check out. Such a good deal!

    • rebecca

i have done it in the past, and we had 7 people with us (i have several children) and we loaded up on meal, dessert and everything. it was no problem at all — the only thing is they did remind us as we went through the line that there is no leftovers or takeouts/removal of food from the restaurant.

I’m also curious to hear personal experiences. I’ve been wanting the kallax 6 ft by 6ft bookshelf but they just increased the price from $130 to $200. Hopefully this deal will make it worth it with my family of 4!

    • K

Our meal was $25ish and they took it off with no problem

It also says Ikea ‘Family’ members eat free. I agree, it’s not very detailed. Better call ahead

Family is just what the free reward card is called, don’t need to be a family.

it’s free to become IKEA family member, and well worth it, in my opinion. IKEA family members get additional discounts on many items that change each month, plus get free hot drinks anytime you are in their restaurant (and their hot chocolate is SO RICH and good). get discounts on certain entrees every month, also, as much as $2 or $3 off the meal per person, sometimes. discounts on buffet events…
it is well detailed about all the benefits on their website.

Thanks for pointing out the hot chocolate! I thought it was just good on cofee and hot tea. My daughter will love to get a treat!

We love this deal! It needs to be on one transaction your meal to get it free. We splurged the last time we did this – tried desserts, different meals, and beverages for 5 of us! No questions asked they have it all to us for free. When we have done it we bought our stuff first then brought our receipt to the food court to eat for free. I think you can do it either way. We did it this way so we did not get stuck buying the extra food if it did not work.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I’m looking for the kitchen cart in the bottom picture. Please help! Thanks!!

This deal is great, did this promotion a couple years back, I had went with my friends, and we ate almost the same price of the dresser that I had wanted to buy. And that is saying a lot since the cost of food isn’t that expensive. We weren’t limited on any one type of food, we got more drinks (their juice boxes are tiny!) than dessert. And we tried items we wanted to get before but afraid that we might not like it. So try different things and go hungry ( if you know that you are gonna be spending more than 100) and make sure it all on one receipt.

Fwiw, i finally received my full refund for recalled ikea dressers. They picked up the furniture at my home at no cost, and it took over 2 months but the check was for the most current selling price plus tax.
Did not have to present receipt from my purchase 5+ years ago.

  9. Kristi

My Ikea usually has a $35 limit when they run this deal.

  10. Jo

We recently moved and Ikea ran this deal for 3 days right after. We made good use of it! We’re only 5 minutes from Ikea, so some days we even went twice and split our transactions up. Looks like we’re going to cross a few things off our Ikea list this weekend and eat some meatballs πŸ˜€

We move a lot for work (a whole lot)-so we have actually scored this awesome deal at several Ikea’s over the years with no issues or price caps thus far for family or 4…San Diego, Denver,KC & Minneapolis. Seems like it is pretty common deal on holiday weekends & totally worth it when kitchen isn’t set up πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

What is considered home furnishings? We need to buy some kitchen cabinets but I’m not sure that would count?
