Anyone have feedback on this or other train sets? It will be the main gift for my son this Christmas, so we are hoping for a good set and a great deal! ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you think I should jump on this or wait for Black Friday?? TIA

We purchased this train table from TRU 2 years ago and our son loved it! He played with it almost daily. The train table itself is pretty sturdy and the wooden Thomas the Train trains can also be used with it so if you have a Thomas fan at home its an added bonus.
The only complaint I have is that the wood pieces which make up the train tracks separate too easily from one another. It’s a pain to have to keep fixing them every time my son accidentally bumps into the table or is actively playing with it. My husband actually super glued some of the pieces together to prevent this from happening-especially on the bridge part of it. This is also a great price, last year it didn’t go below the $99 even on Black Friday so I would definitely recommend jumping on this offer if it was a toy/gift you were already considering. We would purchase it again if we didn’t already own it ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have last years model. One area is annoying that it always falls apart, but the design has changed so it might not be an issue anymore. It wasn’t so annoying as to make me glue it. I would buy this table again. The price really can’t be beat for what you get. Also I was able to use some of the Christmas coupons last year and opened a credit card which brought the price down a ton more!

I have a kidkraft one that we bought last Christmas for my just turned two-year-old. He was really excited but needed everything glued down to be able to have fun playing. He is about to turn three now and plays with it most of the day building tracks on the floor part of the time and still playing with the glued-down pieces on the table the rest of the time. It was a bit overwhelming for him at first but now it is all he plays with! This is a great price for a brand new table with so much included.

I have the same questions as above. Reviews are mixed on the Toys R Us website. Some say the tracks don’t stay together, others say it’s fantastic. Seems like a great price but also looking for great quality. Will be the main Christmas gift for our 2 year old also…

I have a kidkraft train table. I believe it was a helicopter landing pad that the screw stripped immediately when it was assembled. It is otherwise stayed in good shape considering my two year old only enjoys ripping it apart, my five year old loves to play with it but it’s hard with Godzilla hovering behind her ready to destroy which leads to a lot of fights. My temporary solution is we have a couple Thomas the train sets that I leave on top that are more solid and harder to dismantle for now until my 2 yr old gets a bit older. He likes racing his matchbox cars on them.

Just a heads up if you order something like this online its best to order it early for xmas last year i purchased something similar but i think it was from amazon it came with a teared up box and looked like peices were chipped i was able to send it back and get a replacement on time

Sorry to hear about that. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

We got one similar years ago and waited till Christmas Eve to put it together but someone had assembled two of the plastic track holders upside down. I swear it had to have been on purpose because it was really strange. We had to saw them apart and glue them correctly together but it took forever first time putting it together. Santa’s elves had a very late night that Christmas! But on a good note is that the train set is still up and going 8 years later!

That’s too funny. Hopefully Santas Elves found the Egg Nog too !!

I was going to purchase, but I’m going to hold out until I find a good deal on the Step 2 Train Table. It is plastic, both cars and trains can be used on it, and reviewers say that you don’t have the aggravation of the tracks coming apart. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We had this brand in an older version years ago when my older boys were 2 & 4. Like someone else said, it wasn’t fun for them without gluing it down but the glue we tried didn’t work and we ended up with a huge mess. The 2 year old would sit on the table occasionally and it eventually fell apart within a few years. We have a 2 year old again now who would love this and when my husband and I saw it in the TRU catalog we were torn about whether or not we want to deal with one of these again but it really is a fun toy and such a good deal in comparison to a Thomas table even though these are compatible with Thomas.

Thanks for sharing your experience Kasey! Good to know!

Wow, this train table looks so cool! I love the helicopter pad, how the tracks curve around the mt. and the subway!! Last time the mountain train set was on sale (back in May), I bought it (it was also $99). I’d been saving it for Christmas, but today after seeing the post, I returned it to TRU and bought this one! Thanks H2S!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re so welcome! ๐Ÿ™‚

I purchased a different one for my son earlier this year as his big christmas gift. My mom is interested in purchasing this one for her house since we spend a lot of our free time at Grandmas. Is this table compatible with the motorized thomas and friends trains?
