My dad made sure I had a Makita when I moved out 20+ years ago. I’ve lost a few, divorce and moves, but my dad always made sure I had a Makita. He had his since the 80s, when he worked in construction in Downtown Dallas. The one I have and use, I’ve had for over 10 years. They’re the best, they last a long time and are amazing. I don’t recommend the drill for light activities, like drilling a plain screw in, its power will likely strip the screw if you’re not careful. That’s what my husband’s adorable black and decker is for, we had our own drills coming in to this relationship. These are strong and a commitment. These are good for drilling holes in the wall, pre-drilling wood to build things, paint mixing, etc… These are excellent for drilling holes in concrete or brick or stone tile. Dad was career construction and only used Makita. He built his barn/shop himself using his Makita tools that he never had to replace. He was in the barn building something every weekend until he had no weekends left. So, if you’re like me and love to build things, this is a great investment. If your SO loves to build and needs a good drill, this is the only one he’ll ever need. You never know when a good drill will come in handy for emergencies. Our sink started falling out of the granite and the drill and some heavy duty screws saved the day. The carefully placed screws (and the predrilling through an inch and a half of cabinet) kept it from compromising the pipes underneath.
I’d even suggest one of these as a wedding gift. Statistically speaking, it might last longer than the marriage.
Thanks for such great feedback! Good to know how reliable the Makita tools are! 😉
