Sent from reader, Whitney:

I just had to share this adorable idea I saw on Pinterest. I bought $1 plastic fillable ornaments at Dollar Tree for each of my children and filled the ornament with their hospital beanies and bracelets. What a super easy, frugal and lovely memory to see on the Christmas tree each year!

This is so sweet! Going to see if my dollar tree has any of those.

I bought a twelve pack from Michaels for 3 dollars last time. Michaels definitely has them. They are plastic. Ac Moore has glass ones. Six ornaments for 5 dollars.

I did years ago with my daughters hat and hospital bracelet. Definitely one of my favorite ornaments 🙂

I had my oldest 2 write their Christmas wish list out then roll it up and put it inside one of these. I think it will be a fun tradition!

Another frugal ornament idea – our local hallmark has past year’s ornaments for 75% off. I go buy last year’s for my kids ornaments.

Great idea! DoitonaDime from YouTube just talked about these ornaments. Her idea is to place photos in them and give to family as gifts.

I did this with the program from our wedding. Cut it into little strips and wrapped each strip around a bic pen. That gave each strip a nice corkscrew shape. Also, you can get glass ornaments like this at hobby lobby for ~60 cents apiece. The glass orbs look a bit nicer on the tree, imo.

I fill these up with M&Ms for a cheap gift for my office mates. I attach a little tag to indicate what kind of chocolate it is (milk, dark, etc.) and let them know it’s a DIY ornament, so they can decorate it with their kids after they’ve eaten the M&Ms.

I love it! Now I just have to remember where I put their hats. Lol!

How big is this clear Christmas ball? Are we talking about the regular size ones? If so, how would items fit through the opening?

  20. Libby

We have our children’s last pacifiers hanging on the tree. They enjoy seeing them on the tree every Christmas- they are teenagers now 🙂

I did this with my sister in laws wedding invitation. I cut it into strips, and made the strips into ribbons and put them in the ornament. So nice.
