Horrible toy, bought these for my daughter and niece for Christmas and they were stuck on there hair for hours. My daughter was traumatized by this she didn’t want to touch this toy afterwards. YouTube videos. Please beware.

    • Jessica

Agreed! Just Google “Bunchems Hair” and you will see some crazy pics. My SIL warned me before Xmas not to buy them!!!

Thanks! I was curious about this.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh no! So sorry to hear they got them stuck in their hair! 🙁 Thanks for sharing your experience!

  2. Sara

Don’t buy unless you want to supervise every minute of the play (accidents might still happen) or your child could end up with a chunk of hair cut out…

  3. Kelli

^ Thanks for the reviews! My first thought was even if supervising do I really want 400 small ball things all over. No. Decided to read comments hoping someone would have some advice. I have 2 girls with longer hair so I will definitely pass on this deal!

Same experience. My child has curly hair…it was down she bent down and we had to cut her hair.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer 🙁 Thanks for the feedback Alyssa!

FYI, the Mega Pack is $18.79, not $12.99.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing Gail! That deal scenario has been removed.

We have these and haven’t had any problems. My girls are 5 and 8. I pull their hair back in pony tails. My girls love them! Honestly, if kids were playing with them properly or with an adult, there shouldn’t be any in their hair lol!.

    • David

Kudos on having a child that ‘plays with things properly’, but mine doesn’t, and I don’t think most others always do either. Unfortunately no amount of supervision (short of hovering my hands around their ears) would allow me to be fast enough to intercept something going from hand to hair.

I think you need to know your kid, just like any other toy. If your kid is the type that is a bit mischievous, then no, Bunchems probably isn’t the smartest purchase. My oldest would start chucking these things at his siblings in a heartbeat, but my studious 4 year old would sit at the table and build quietly for hours. I think the hysteria over Bunchems is absurd – there are lots of toys (particularly mechanized) that could end up in a child’s hair, which happens as a result of kids not using them as intended, accident or not (I’m really skeptical of the pics showing 50 of these things in someone’s hair…they must have built themselves a Bunchems pillow). I don’t think that makes it a bad product – it just means that they’re going to be less “dangerous” for a certain subset of kids.

I put my girls hair completely up, and they still got caught in her hair, had to cut them out…took them back, not worth the chance of getting them in her hair again,

I have a 6 year old boy and he LOVES this toy. He has very short hair. I am thinking to buy a second set for him.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy to hear he had enjoyed them! Thanks for the great review!

  9. Jacy

Thanks for all the reviews… saved me some trauma and hassle since my 6-yr-old’s hair is super long and these would have definitely been a mess!

  10. Heather

We have a 3, 4, and 6 year old and they LOVE playing with bunchems. They love any kind of building toy though. We have never had a problem with getting them stuck in hair. Of course before I let them play wth them the first time I told them how it could happen so they they’re probably a little more careful.

  11. Lisa

We love these! I have 3 daughters with very long hair. We have had them occasionally get stuck in hair but have been able to get the out without cutting. They love to build stuff with them though. They are not a toy they get to have all the time in their room though.

  12. Tracy

The Target Cartwheel is for the Jumbo Pack $39.99.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Whoops! Thanks for catching Tracy! Updating now!

  13. CrystalA

I have a 5 and 7 year old! I have had no issues with them getting stuck in their hair. I keep my daughters hair pulled back, just in case 🙂 My kids love playing with these!

  14. Tiffany

Cute toy, but stressful for the parents! Gets lost everywhere! Plus I have to make sure the dogs are outside until every last one is cleaned up. Would’ve been better off with another toy.

  15. Cassandane

I have a few friends who have had to cut these out of their kids hair. One dog even ended up w a belly shaved after getting them stuck in her fur. Not worth it for what are basically plastic burrs!! :/ Try Magic Nuudles if your kids wants craft that sticks together

  16. StephanieLT

I know kids who have these and when playing on the floor, hairs/fuzz/lint anything, these things collect them and are a pain to clean them out. Not as neat as they may seem(in my opinion)

  17. laurie

My daughter is 9 and I bought these for her for xmas. I have her pull her hair up and we play at the kitchen table with them. Lots of cute things we have created together. Parents get so worked up over the hype of this toy and getting them stuck in the hair. My girls are not wild and running all over the house out of control. When a parent actually sits down and plays with an activity like this there are no problems.
