Unless your phone is on/by you you don’t physically hear a ring without the “ring chimes” which makes the actual doorbell sound it’s $30 extra … I have this system and it’s great just highly recommend the add on chimes so you can actual hear someone when they ring the bell!!!
How does it alert you then if it doesn’t “ring”
Sounds a signal to the device connected to it… aka cell phone or tablets
You can wire it to the existing Doorbell if you have one then you can here it without the chime. The chime pro is nice though.

If it’s replacing a pre existing hard wired doorbell, then that will still ring inside your home. Most homes have a hard wired doorbell and will continue to do so after installing this. If you don’t have one, you would need the additional plug in chime.
Mine was hard wired and the that was for power the chimes were to old to use the transfer wire however I got the chime plug in and love it
Is this something that people are getting into? Would it be easier just to make a video call that you were at the door? LOL
When the door bell rings and you are upstairs or can’t answer you can see who is at the door. I’m a single mom and hate answering the door this helps me a ton bc I don’t have to get up and open a door to a stranger. Also when I’m at work I can still answer and they think I’m home 🙂
We bought it for security reasons. Our packages would mysteriously disappear after it was delivered. So now we know who was at our door and when
Love this!!! If you aren’t home and someone rings the bell you have an option to talk to them while you are seeing them. You can say your not interested if they are selling something or just scoping your place out and they will think you are home. I feel much safer since my husband works graveyards and if someone is at our door, my husband will answer it like he’s there with us plus it’s recording everything and storing it on your phone so you could play it back or send it to friends or law enforcement if you need to. Also great if you get a lot of packages, you would be able to see if someone tries to steal them since it’s motion activated as well. Highly recommend!!!

After reading your comments, I just realized I have not had a salesman come to my door since I have this door bell. It has been 2.5 months!
I also pay a cloud recording fee (30/year, or 3/month), that way I can still see the video if I miss it earlier.
We have one of these. It is a great addition to our home security system. Here is a testimonial about it: Before Christmas we were expecting a package. The deliverer rang the doorbell, but when no one answered the door she walked off with the package but reported it as delivered. I had it all on video. The woman probably thought she was getting away with the theft and that we would assume it was stolen off our doorstep since she reported it as delivered. But I had the video proof that she left with our package. Amazon reshipped the order.
